Suggestions on getting Universal Garage Door opener to work

I just picked up my new Denali. Pics to follow.

I've read the manual and tried the learn button on the garage opener as well as tried the small remote... Still not luck.

Any tricks and tips to get it to work? ( I had no issues with my wife's new Buick.._ just can't remember what I did back then)

Press and hold outter two buttons until you see a fast blink. Then press and hold the left most button and you garage door opener button at the same time until you see fast blinks again. Then press your learn button on your garage motor. The motor that lifts the door. Then press and hold the left most button in your truck again until the garage door goes up or down.

If the procedure doesn't work, clear all codes/remotes from the opener.

Any chance the remote needs new batteries?

(assuming your using the 'simultaneous button press' method)

I had to do mine a few times, followed the directions and it worked, but I think I had to hold it for 20 seconds or something to get it to take. Also, found the range is way weaker than my ol' Avalanche's remote. I could be about five houses away and hit that one. This new Denali I have to be in the driveway or right on the edge of it for it to work.

My distance seems to be way longer than my remote itself. I'm happy with it. It definitely works better than my Malibu

Older garage door openers will not always work with homelink. I had to buy a special unit to make mine in the 02 work

I just followed the instructions in the manual and everything worked fine.

i think the process is different depending on what kind of garage door opener you have. If I remember correctly if your garage door opener has "rolling codes" I think that's the term they used, like mine does then you have to hold the homelink button along with the original garage opener until the truck "learns" it then you have to press the learn button on the garage door opener itself and hit / hold the homelink button again.

 

it was a bit of a process and took me a few minutes to figure it out but I was able to get it to work for all of my garage door openers (3) and the oldest garage door opener is from around like 2007 - craftsman.

I was able to train my SIerra for my 25 year old opener at my house in about 15 seconds, and had a similar experience training it for my in-laws' brand new opener (literally, three months old) at their house on a different button.

I have an 2014 GMC Sierra and was having trouble getting the Homelink and garage opener to see each other, was about 10' from the front of the garage, apparently I was too close to the garage, backed up about 20' and tried worked the first time.
