So my father has the EXACT same truck as me. I drove it today and it is totally a different feel. No squeak, and seems to have a lot better acceleration and not as much transmission and throttle lag. Wtf?

I just noticed one difference between my dads truck and mine. I have the 3.08 rear axle and he has the 3.42. Could that make any sort of huge difference?

With all due respect Patsy G, the dealers aren't helpful at all. I've already refunded my extended warranty because they won't fix anything on my truck unless it's on fire and shooting fireworks into the sky. I've paid out of pocket to fix things they wouldn't. Warranty means nothing.

Hey Kev,

We regret hearing you feel this way and apologize for any negative experience at the dealership. Again, feel free to send us the requested information via private message if you'd like for us to follow up on your behalf. We're happy to assist any way we can.

Sincerely,

Eddie A.

I also have the exact same noise. The Dealer will replace your cat back however if it starts making the noise again.....too bad. I think I will try a clamp first. Only issue with the clamp is a possible drone when in V4. And I hate drone.

clamping it will get rid of the squeak, but yeah you'll get a slight drone when cruising in V4 mode. I clamped mine all of this past winter, but recently took the clamp off. Of course the squeak is now back and I was trying to spray some lubricant in there but it doesn't seem to help.

this issue just started for me recently. Didn't hear it at all last summer. The afm will probably go out in high mileage anyway, as with the radio screen, and other "programmed" features. Would it changed mpg or pick up? Or affect anything really?

If clamped

My 2014 GMC Sierra All terrain 5.3 Squeaks. At first I thought it was a vacuum hose or something but this makes more sense.

Ill be contacting my dealership when I return home.

So I purchased this Siverardo back in April of this year. It now has just over 2k miles on it. This truck had the crossover pipe replaced when I purchased it because I found a crack in the pipe where the factory tooling flattens it.

For what it's worth, I have this "Chirp" as you say, but I hear it as a "Ching" sound also. It happens always when I allow it to coast a bit then hit the accellerator. I also hear a lot of rattles coming from that area mostly on cold start-up and then it dissapates a little.

I brought it to the dealer here in Massachusetts. I gave them a typed paper explaining all my concerns. They printed out a couple of reports and told me it was normal noise.. It's very annoying.

They did take care of the 70mph vibration but these driving sounds and noise are bad also... This dealership has seen me alot, but hey, I just took out a mortgage on a truck and I think the issues should be taking care of.

One thing I also tried, because of my prior experience as an auto mechanic, was having someone hold their hand over the tailpipe with a rag.. You can definately hear leaks up there... Anyone else hear this? I was wondering if this could also be linked to the strange noise I hear when traveling down the road in the left lane, say against a road partition... Strange sounds being bounced back...

Mine just started this a couple months ago. Would greasing the flapper or even partially keeping it open help. A louder exhaust would eliminate the noise I assume?
