2015 Truck Sales: Ford F-Series Leads Chevrolet Silverado by 81K Units

For reference to the Camaro vs Mustang sales, see here. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=425091

Since 2009, the Camaro has outsold the Mustang. Though the NEW Mustang is dominating sales while the Camaro

enthusiasts are either waiting for the all new Gen 6 or blow out sale on a Gen 5.

Here are Septembers trucks sales numbers. Note Ford is listed as F series, not F150. They usually break down the

segments annually in January. * I think*.

Here is a list by brand name plate, not model sales numbers. They are still finishing the list, so not all numbers are in yet.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think GM is doing some great things. You mention the ford cars that are doing well. I'm pretty sure the camaro has beat the mustang for a few years now. The ctsv and atsv are both great cars, the Stingray and Z06 are right up there with a lot of super cars.

But as far as trucks go, I definitely disagree that Ford is dominating. The sales numbers have been neck and neck. Plus, the part that really matters is I know I would rather have my truck than anything ford can throw out there. I've driven a Ram a new F150 and I don't consider either a better truck, obviously, which is why I went with the Silverado. Even if the Ford does the quarter mile a hair quicker, pulls a lil more (which I don't think either is correct), I would still prefer the Silverado/Sierra. And the fact that the sales numbers are so close says a lot of others would too.

Just curious, but what made you get a Sierra if you think the Ford trucks are so great?

Well 81,000 units in the 1st half is no small number and I expect that number to really Broaden now that Fords manufacturing is 100%. I'm fully aware of Camaro sales and the C7 as well as Z06. I'm a huge Vette enthusiast. GM competes well with these. As Ive said many times, I'm a GM guy. I have an impressive collection of all GM cars. My point here is simply that GM can and has to do better with thier trucks in order to beat Ford. I have a 60k Denali truck that is GMs premere 4x4, next gen truck and it simply does not compare to the Ford competitor. That's all I'm saying. I did not say the Ford was better looking, but it does infact out perform the GM in every way and has many options the GM does not. Unlike you, I care if a product is inferior to another when I pay the extra money to have the best. Yes sometimes there is give and take as far as strengths and attributes. In this particular case, right now, Ford has the powerhouse that does a host of things better than mine. Even fit a finish is better. Have you actually gone down and taken a close look at the Ford Platnum or Kingranch 4x4? The truck is impressive. Now I could have had any truck I wanted and it is troubling the GM hasn't stepped head. And the new 2016s are about to be out with no new performance improvements for the next year. What will Ford do for 2016? Again, then there's raptor and the King of 3/4 and 1 ton, F250 and I could go on. My point is, why does GM let Ford have this segment. I think the answer to my question is that GM can't beat Ford here. You and I have very nice trucks, but they are #2 to Something better. I want that to change.

On the bright side GM is doing a lot better these days. I think these discussions help them to better formulate for the future. Yes, they do read these blogs. For 2016, a tweak to HP increase in the 6.2 and all thier engines, plus 360 camera, push button start, panoramic sunroof, console shifter option, mood illumination/floorboard/under hood lighting would have been nice additions to make them competitive.

GM counts their Silverado and Sierra each as their own brand. Ford always seems like the better selling truck because of this. If GM would count them together, the other manufacturers would look like their sales were in big trouble.

I like them being separated out. Though wanted to add something for those who say that GM is cheating by having a similar Chevrolet & GMC line of trucks.

There is one thing to remember. Ford tried to have that with Lincoln in recent history & it failed. GMC has sold 160,000+ units to date in 2015. You can

bet that if Ford could have turned even half that under the Lincoln brand they would still be on the market.

We just got remote locking tail gates for 2016, I think you are asking for a bit much now....

I do agree though that GM needs to try a few more things as options that no one else has.

The lighting on the 2016 throughout all the trim lines seems like a step in the right direction.

Will have to wait & see how that works out here in the coming weeks.

Fords are great trucks weather we hate them or not.

The F250/F350 has like 60% of the HD market segment. Every damn big company like Time Warner etc has ford fleets . More fleets than anyone combined I would say.

Heck even the RAM beats GM in HD sales.

One thing I dont like about the Ford sales numbers is that they bunch the F150-F750 all together,

Gm well dosent even have a 4500+ ( until now I think ?)
