OnStar Updates

I took delivery of my 2015 Silverado in late May which has a build date of 4/15 that came with the 6 month free trial. I noticed I have not received any diagnostic reports that my salesman promised would come monthly. I logged onto my Onstar account online and saw the last time a report was run was the day I took delivery. So I called Onstar via the blue button and explained my situation. The adviser transferred me to a Technical Adviser who, after making sure my contact information was correct, told me there was an update for my vehicle which would take 5-7 minutes. She put me on hold, came back and said the update was completed successfully and a new report will run within 24 hours.

 

My vehicle left the factory in April and there was already an update for it. Out of curiosity, anyone else experience something similar or know anything about OnStar updates? Wasn't even aware these can be updated and remotely no less.

i get them every month or so. they just tell you things like tire pressure, oil life left, mundane stuff like that. I think I've about had it with OnStar and will likely be canceling soon, so I assume they'll stop then.

 

But again you're not missing much, IMO.

It makes sense that if you called in to Onstar you would get a current update, the update you receive monthly is already 30 days behind.

 

Dagwood2001, along with the mundane stuff, the monthly Onstar report will also advise you of recalls and bulletins.

Thanks for this post! I had forgot about the monthly reports....I took delivery of mine first of May and haven't received a report either. I just did the same process you did and had same response, sent to tech advisor. He reset my account settings and said everything was correct(no updates needed). Said I should receive the report within 3 days and every 30 days after that.
