Hell with the trucks. I want to see some pics of that van. haha. No really.

Well this is the only picture I have left sadly, I had that van when I was 20 a lifetime ago, 1986 1/2 ton 305 ( was just getting ready to drop 350 in her )pretty close to showroom by the time I had the exterior completed. The interior was done using all pine on the walls with oak cabinetry including the overhead console I built. I could go on all day about that one it is probably the favourite of all the vehicles I had. I was very dissapointed when i had to sell it but oh well life and all that garbage lol.

That is the only way I go to a dealership. I like it when they act as if they are humoring a poor person who can't afford it until they run my credit and then all of the sudden they can't do enough for me.

Good luck with the mopar, I will not talk it down but the dodge dealer is the only one left in my small city of 25000 people the others went belly up so they gotta be doing something right. I went to just entertain the thought of one, I guess the salesman here didn't want to sell me one. Im a busy guy so when I swung by I had been painting earlier in the day so they didn't even speak to me I walked through their showroom twice, stoof next to the trucks looked in windows for at least 30 mins while they just chatted it up inside the building. I left and didnt go back.

Honestly I prefer to be left alone.

I can't stand it not being able to look at a truck w/o having some super-hyper-nice-friendly-creeping up my a**-salesmen swarming me and nagging my ear.

I'll ask for help if I need it.

Sure it is their property and they can do as they please.

They can even ask me to leave. No problem with that.

4.3l to 6.4l and increased throttle response noted- who'd have guessed this?!

:dunno:

I had a 2002 or so Ram Laramie, was a total lemon. When it went off warranty and I had to start paying the shop I traded it on a Chevy pronto.

I know you can get a lemon of any brand, but that sort of thing makes a man gun shy.

The only thing I really have against Ram now is they are basically a foreign car, they do make a nice looking truck though. Enjoy!

Ah heck that's one of the reasons I shied away from the local Chevy and Dodge dealerships when I was shopping. I actually was interested at one point in a mega cab, but I used to take my Jeep to the local dealership for service. The folks in the service shop were good people, but most of the folks on the sales side were cocky sharks. Left a bad enough taste in my mouth that I wasn't willing to give them much consideration. My first truck was a '01 Dakota that I loved until I used the back end of a Subaru to stop.

Same kinda thing with the local Chevy dealership I visited multiple times looking and each time I was accosted by pushy immature salespeople that couldn't figure out how to read their customers. I mean if I'm going to bent over on a deal at least be skillful enough to make me feel good about it. I literally got into a 5 minute argument with this muscle guy salesman trying to get him to leave me along because I was just window shopping.

The local Ford dealership had nice sales people and I have nothing against Fords, just liked the F-250's over the F-150's and I couldn't and still can't justify a 3/4 ton for my needs. That and I liked the interiors of the GMC's better.

Had a 14 Sierra and 15 Sierra....both with the 6.2L. Nice trucks.....but got tired of going to the dealer every other week for "normal" problems per GM. Went with a '15 Ram Sport.....not a single issue after 6 months. Thing drives/performs flawlessly. Was a diehard GM for my entire life....hope to return to another GM truck in the future....still trying to wash the bad taste these trucks lefts in out of my mouth.

I will agree to a point but at least come unlock them, maybe ask me if I would like to drive it. Simple sales tactics go a long way,I'm not a fan of pressure sales but at least least pretend like they wanna sell a truck. The best salesman I ever met was at a dealership in a little town called Mt vernon in WA state. He let me look around then came out asked if I wanted anything unlocked and said if I needed anything just come on in.

I have bought 3 new vehicles in the last 3 years and dealt with alot of dealerships. I had plenty who would not give me the time of day or come out and talk and others who wouldn't leave me alone when I wanted them too. Go back the next week to the same dealership and a whole crew of different salesman would be working and were great. If you let a salesman keep you from buying the vehicle want you every time they make you mad then it will make for a long buying process. I also pay cash for everything I buy, everything. A lot of dealers would get mad when I wouldn't let them run my credit and told them I had other options for paying for the vehicle. I think a few thought I was just messing with them because of the way I was dressed or that a lot of times I was on one of my old motorcycles and not in cage.

Read any forum and you will find people who are having a bad experience with a particular brand. Ram forums are full of people who are very unhappy with their 8 speed transmission.

In general a V6 vs a V8 won't compare in throttle response. I had my mind made up to buy the 3.5LEB F150 until I drove it. It had horrible throttle response. I ordered up my current choice and have never looked back!! 6.2L is a completely different animal. I'm happy! Those Rams are sweet though!

So, I'm a life long GM guy as well. Can't believe I'm considering another brand, but you may have given me hope. Is the 6.2 definitely differnet in its throttle response. I seriously would pay the extra cash just to get the throttle back where it used to be. This drives me crazy. I test drove a 5.0L V8 F150 and it drove like a dream. It responded to my foot like my 2008 sierra does. Of course the f150 was a smoother shifter as is the new sierrra and silverados with the 6sp, but I thought the 6.2 had the same throttle response issue?
