Goodbye Chevy

Clocked, what you said about the dealer is how I usually buy. I'm more dealer loyal than brand loyal! We have two not so good Ford dealers, a very good GM dealer, not so good Ram dealers. Many people around here drive 50 miles to dealers with many years of great reputations!

I understand why you traded, but your Silverado was a beauty. How does the Ram ride compared to the Silverado?

I loved my Chevy and have a guy I deal with at the dealer that we deal with all the time and he still couldnt help me out. I'm not brand loyal I've had Honda, Subaru, Chevy, Jeep and now Ram. Who ever will give me the best deal is who I am going with.

I love the Ram the suspension for being a 7000lb truck is amazing. I think it mostly has to do with the rear suspension. Its of course not as nice as my Chevy but that is because it weighs 2x what the Chevy does.

Still has MDS or AFM which is what the Chevy was. Interior isnt as nice as far as the radio and instrument cluster but the cluster is an easy upgrade to the premium. The radio can be upgraded to the 8.4" nav as well just cost about $700 out of pocket.

I would've liked to stay with Chevy but def dont regret getting the Ram I love it. I know in the long run the Ram might cost more in ownership witb repairs but I honestly dont drive my vebicles often.

Had the Silverado for over a year and only put 6k miles on it so this Ram should last me long enough till I get bored of it

Good luck with your Ram. I hope she does well for you.

My first choice was a Silverado but the dealer I went to wouldnt budge on their price. I was even willing to get a used 2014 LTZ with about 9500 miles but we couldnt agree on a price. Long story short, that same day I came home with a new 2015 Sierra SLT.

I think the OP is referring to the throttle response issues, not the power. My 5.3, before a tune, had what seemed like 1" of travel in the pedal before any rpm change in the engine and had the laziest accelerator pedal I've ever driven. It was about as disconnected as the electric power steering in '09-'12 corollas.

Very nice truck, but not as pretty as the black chevy but again I could be biased! I too am not brand loyal but this is my 3rd chevy truck in a row since 1998. I really wanted a Dodge as well, loved the ride, the power of the 5.7, and the smooth 8 speed transmission but it is slim pickings out my way if you want and decently loaded extended cab in a Dodge. Tons of crew cabs with the extras I wanted but I didn't need a crew cab.

hope the RAM treats you well. Is the 6 speed or 8 speed behind the 6.4? Something tells me only the RAM 1500's get the 8 speed.

I know TFL on YouTube did a Ike gantlet tow with the 6.4 and the 6.0 Chevy had a better run. But it was pretty close. I wonder what a tune would do for the 6.4? It could really be a monster!

Yea if I didn't need the CC I would've kept the truck as it was fine for my needs. But now definitely need the extra space.

Its a 6 speed wish they came out with the 8spd for the 6.4 that would be amazing. Right now only the 3.0 Diesel, 3.6 and 5.7 hemi have the option for 8spd. I'm sure 2016 or 2017 will be out with it.

Yea I actually watched that last night and the Chevy did it better by a minute. Problem with the tow mode on the Ram was it kept the transmission in 3rd and had no power. If you did both test with being able to manual shift who knows what would've happen. Diablo released tuning for the 6.4 but you need to send in your PCM or buy a new one from them cause they locked the stock PCM from being tuned. I know they put a supercharger on a 6.4 and it made 600+ hp and 580 something tq. The stock numbers are plenty for what I need it for.

Goodluck with your transmission.

With GM's wonderful transmission tuning, clunking, hesitation, and confusion, I'm pretty sure this statement is reciprocal...

I don't know if it's just a gut feeling but it seems like that ex-GM owners go with a Ram rather than Ford.

Before the '15 F150 came out my "order" of desire was like

1. GM

2. Ford

3. RAM

If I'd have to give up my truck tomorrow for another brand it would be a RAM.

Is there a pattern?

Good luck with your new truck.

Although I greatly respect your opinion, you couldn't pay me enough to drive a Dodge.

My reason - I just don't like 'em.

To the OP... good luck with your new truck!
