Goodluck with your transmission.

With GM's wonderful transmission tuning, clunking, hesitation, and confusion, I'm pretty sure this statement is reciprocal...

Dodge honestly has the worst transmissions, at least in the trucks. The only problem my '14 had was while it was in learn mode, since then it shifts smooth everytime no matter rather I'm driving "normal" or get on it. The 4L60e trans in my '98 held up great when you looked at what I did in the truck. The clunking I had was the rear axle u-bolt nuts not being on spec and since I TQed them I haven't had 1 clunk. I know people are complaining about the tuning of the new 8 speed, but part of that problem could (not saying it is, just might be the reason) have been that they had enough people complain about not having it and didn't have patients for them to get it just right. I could care less about having an 8 speed, honestly 6 speed is all I need. I guess sooner or later they will be like the 12 speed Fast and Furious cars. There has to be a limit....

Although I greatly respect your opinion, you couldn't pay me enough to drive a Dodge.

My reason - I just don't like 'em.

To the OP... good luck with your new truck!

So you're more of a Ford guy...1poke.gif

I've been a GM loyalist most of my adult life. Love my current 2014 Crew cab, but I have been looking at a Super Duty crew cab 4x4. Drove one last week and I'm actually liking it.

Haven't drove the 2015 Duramax yet as local dealer has none. I'll make a decision soon. Hope to at least give GM a test drive.

You need to go out and test drive a new Dodge before you compare it to GM's transmission. I drive a F150 with the 6 speed everyday for work and it and my chevy are equally below average. The few Rams with 8 speeds I test drove were much better than what Ford or GM offer. I seen you repeat the "learn" process many times but alot of us after 10k miles or more are still get harsh and hanging shifts and I am one of them. Same for my F150 with 50k miles, likes to hang on gears or slam into them a few times a week.

Sorry to hear they wouldnt deal. When I was buying mine I looked at Ford, Dodge, Chev I have always been a Chevy guy so I was slanted anyway but I couldnt get past the big for the sake of big nose on them and the fact that after driving Jeep for the last 10 years I was tired of the dodge dealerships in my area. As for Ford well I just didnt like them enough.

Anyway I love my Chev but good luck with your Dodge looks nice I hope it is all you think it will be.

I'm glad the OP paid the price he wanted to pay.

I'm sure Fiat can use the money to make more 500s.

Just admit it, you wanted a new truck and there is no problem with that. My kids grew up getting strap in two door cars, weren't 4 door pickups when they were little. Four door cars weren't cool.

I drove the dodge and gm 8speeds back to back and to me they had a lot of the same characteristics. A lot going on with an 8 speed. I didn't notice one feeling any smoother or rougher than the other. What I did notice was the difference in the 6.2 and the 5.7 which is why I now own a Sierra. Honestly though I thought the ram was really nice and comfortable overall. I don't think any of the big 3 make a bad truck.

LOL, I originally was thinking just this. 1500 to 2500. V6 to V8. Overall a bigger and more bad ass truck... Just need to convince the wife more space is needed when the Chebby would work just fine for a baby seat. Hahah! OP, we can't help but give you a hard time about the swap...

Nice Ram. I like the look of the ram but, the one I test drove was very loud on the road however, it was a pretty basic model. I have a 1970's house with a 6" less than standard garage door height, once I realized a ram was too tall to fit I didn't pursue it further. My buddy had a ram with a 5.7 hemi and I really liked how quick it was.

I've never been real big on buying something I don't want because it was cheaper.

When I said worst truck transmissions I meant reliability wise.

Good luck with the mopar, I will not talk it down but the dodge dealer is the only one left in my small city of 25000 people the others went belly up so they gotta be doing something right. I went to just entertain the thought of one, I guess the salesman here didn't want to sell me one. Im a busy guy so when I swung by I had been painting earlier in the day so they didn't even speak to me I walked through their showroom twice, stoof next to the trucks looked in windows for at least 30 mins while they just chatted it up inside the building. I left and didnt go back.
