I consider Rams to be the Kias of the truck world.

Maybe GM should take some tips from Kia then. I just traded my 2014 Silverado for a Ram R/T because I was simply tired of having a truck that had defects that were, as everyone has heard from a dealer, "functioning as designed" or "we can't fix it". Yes the Chevy is a better looking truck which is why I bought it and the engine ran great although after researching direct injection engines, I expected a major headache with valve deposits by about 60k miles. But even with 22" wheels from the factory, the Ram has a better ride, port injection, and the electronics advancements vs Chevy are like Star Wars vs Pong. So, having spent more time at my Chevy dealer's service department than the total time at service departments for every vehicle I've ever owned, I'll have to bite the bullet on looks and go with something that was engineered and build better. For those who have a Silverado that id defect free, keep it. I wish mine was or at least that GM was willing to fix it.

Comparing a 2500 to a 1500 is moronic. Two COMPLETELY different trucks.

I liked the current gen Rams when they first came out. They were sharp looking trucks, but now they all look the same. They haven't been redesigned for 6 years now. A 2009 base model, and a 2015 fully loaded model look almost identical.. even though one is 6 years newer and $45k more.

*At least where I live*, Rams plague the streets. They are just like Civics now, they no longer stand out. And I know why: They are cheap, so people buy them as they are affordable.

I consider Rams to be the Kias of the truck world.

I use to think the same way about Kia and Hyundai 10 years ago, I'm on number 4. Just shows how uninformed some people are. As far as ram and Toyotas I know a few people who own those and hear no complaints, I can say the same thing for GM, except on this forum.

The RAM is dated, and wasn't much to look at almost 7 years ago. The new F150, while an improvement over the '14, is a styling turd. And you can't polish a turd...

I was in the same boat as you 6 months ago. I had previously owned a 2014 Sierra and a 2015 Sierra. The 2014 was bought back by GM for the vibration issues..... and I ended up trading the 2015 Sierra (which had trans issues and vibrations) for a 2015 Ram 1500 Sport. Both of my Sierras had multiple other problems and I just got tired of going back/forth to the dealer every other week. The Ram drives/rides so much better than my GM's ever did. There are no vibrations, even riding on the same Goodyear RS-A's, and overall it is just more "truck" like. I agree that the engine/trans combo is just so much more dialed in and responsive. Plus my Hemi/8-Speed get's 18.3 MPG mixed driving and 21-22 MPG's on the highway. I know this is a GM forum and people can say what they want about the Rams, but I am just giving the group my first hand experience of what I went through over the last year. Prior to buying the Ram, I had been a loyal/diehard GM fan my entire life. I really wanted to love my Sierra's, but they let me down so many times, I just had to jump ship to another brand. I hope those of you who have no issues with your K2 trucsk continue to stay problem free for years and years to come. I was just dealt two bad hands (trucks) by GM....Fool me once, shame on them...fool me twice, shame on me.

Well, while I haven't been a GM groupie I had a '76 Trans Am 455 4 speed, an '81 El Camino and an '85 GMC but swore off GM way back then when they couldn't fix defects. Sound familiar? Had mostly Fords and Mopars since then but I bought a 2010 Silverado and had not one problem with it so I thought maybe they changed and I got the 2014 and it was like Deja Vu all over again. I did like the Silverado's engine and trans too and, yes, it is the best looking truck. What I don't get is the mindset that since the GM looks better, all is fogiven as if the style of the truck is all that matters. I guess if you have one that works, then you can't relate to the frustration and wasted time spent on one that doesn't. That's why I'm not brand loyal. I'm kind of low tech so the Silverado's interior materials and electronics really didn't bother me. Now that I have the Ram, it's readily apparent to me which truck is really dated. And it ain't the Ram.

When the new 150s came out I thought they were beautiful. After test driving one and multiple thrusts to the Ford dealer I couldn't stand the looks of them. I originally wanted nothing to do with a GM even though my wife has a gmc acadia . I test drove a sierra and fell in love.
