a/c line bracket

Finally got around to looking at mine.

 

I have a muffler so I ordered the bracket for $8 on ebay and will install it as preventable maint (fingers crossed).

For those of you who added the bracket, can you talk us through whereabouts the brackets should be located. I tried finding it based off the sandyblog attachment, found the condenser (on the viewers left side of the year ngine bay looking in)and traced the line almost straight back toward the firewall (if im doing the right). The layout doesnt remotely resemble what the bulletin claims the bracket needs to connect. On mine, i have a vibration reducing bracket where the condensed is mounted...its all rubber. Tracing back on the high line, i don't have the muffler on the line and the adjacent line is a solid rubber hose line, so the bracket wouldn't work there. I had my mechanic friend step in to assist and he was baffled by the bulletin. My truck has a build date of 8/13. Can't see the design changing from early 14 to 15 and now 16. Any ideas or pointers?

Thanks for the info guys. $10 preventative maintenance is ok with me. Shame it wasn't designed prior to but at least they acknowledged the problem and designed a fix.

I just looked at my truck. 10/14 build, 2015 MY. My truck has the muffler, but also appears to have the bracket already installed. It's mounted sideways between the two ac lines and is near that muffler. Hopefully mine is good to go

So no one has a picture of where this bracket goes? My ac line is leaking bad.

The bracket won't stop an existing leak, You'll need to get the condenser and lines replaced first. I did mine a month ago, but didn't take photos. You get to the are underneath the truck.

 

So no one has a picture of where this bracket goes? My ac line is leaking bad.

I already found the leak and have part numbers to order. I just don't know where this bracket goes after I put the new hose or is it common sense where it goes?

It's a little bit of common sense. It's really tight trying to get to it from the engine bay.

That's odd that a 2014 had this bracket installed. There are people with late build 14s and early build 15's with no bracket. Did you buy yours used?

ac bracket, I removed my air filter box to add it after I changed my gaskets to hopefully stop the leaking.

My 2015 Sierra crew cab was built October 10, 2014, in Mexico, and has the muffler but no bracket. I took the truck to a dealer last week to have the air bag deployment recall done, and asked if they could install a bracket. They checked and said my VIN didn't show up under the bulletin, so didn't need the bracket. I had already bought a bracket on Ebay, so when it arrived, I went ahead and installed it. My A.C. line looks like all the photos I've seen of lines needing a bracket. With my luck I'd eventually have to take my truck back to the dealer some day with a leaking A.C. line, and ask them why it cracked since they said it didn't need a bracket. I'm sure they'd remember and offer to repair it at no charge.

I had a predicament like that. I asked the service writer if my August 13 built 14 needed that bracket. The tech was standing there when I asked. I believe him to be their senior tech to. The writer asked him if he would take a look. I went with him as my truck was ready to go. He opened the hood looked down where the line was a verified that yes my truck was one of the bad ones. I asked him about installing a bracket. He looked at me and said the bracket was only the fix for when it broke. I took my keys and left. Now that I traded it for my 16 and it's out of warranty hopefully it lasts a long time for the new owner.
