Sorry to hear that you had your wheels stolen. This seems much too common for these trucks.

You had wheel locks also?

Yup, 2 different sets even. The ones it came with, and then these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002801NI8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Can't wrap my head around why they took the locks too. Was pretty surprised to see they had taken the lug nuts also, really.

Whenever I hit the "post" button, it lags and doesn't act like it gets sent through. So after hitting it three more times with the same outcome, I closed the browser and re-opened it to find that each time I hit "post" it duplicated my response lol.

..same here.

In another recent member's experience they left the locks but took the regular lug nuts.

Maybe they are just selling the metal too?

Wow so those locks are the ones that have the sleeve that spins, guess not even that will stop them.

Hope you get rolling again soon.

I knew the locks wouldn't stop them, but I was hoping it would maybe be annoying enough to make them go to the next house you know? Guess not.

So at the risk of being a dummy, do these guys just happen to have a bunch of lug keys with them for the job? Wonder if the famous universal socket can handle the torque that the lugs are set at? It would be nice to make a locking lug that people can't get past without a true one-off key of some sort (or if they exist, I sure am not aware of them).

This is why I haven't bothered with locking nuts. I figure if they want the rims and tires, they're gonna take them.

Luckily I don't live in Texas! Knock on wood.

Texas just has A LOT of trucks. Something close to 50% of trucks sold are in Texas.

This really sucks man. I'm sorry this happened to you. Time for an upgrade! To both your wheels and your security systems. 10+ years ago when I couldn't fit my truck in my garage, I invested ~$350 on a high-end Viper alarm. Lifetime warranty from CarToys. Cheap insurance in my opinion. I even got a decent discount on my insurance. I'd also put some motion sensing flood lights out front. Maybe a security camera? Or at least a fake camera.

In my new house I made very sure that my trucks would fit. My garage doors are and extra foot wide and tall. 9'x8' I think. I only have 3" on each side of the mirrors to spare when I pull in.

Maybe wrong subforum idk, but they got my wheels last night. To add insult to injury, they even took the lug nuts. Silver lining though, now I can see what appears to be a very small exhaust leak that I probably wouldn't have seen before. 5642c71789eb094c2b6697e8c946eb87.jpg

If they aren't already motion lights, it would be easy to upgrade! (looking at the eave above the garage door).

The TPMS is communicating with the sensors in each wheel.

Once the TPMS is initialized with the position of the wheels it "knows" the location of each wheel on the car.

So why not use the TPMS as a anti theft system for wheels?

Kind of integrating an extra sensor who's getting activated when the truck is turned off and the parking brake is applied?

As soon as the wheel is being moved it'll set off a (silent please) alarm.

Just thinking...

Yeah I'm definitely going to have to do something after this experience. Original plan was to save up a bit to have the single car garage area widened so the truck would fit. That's going to take too long though.

That set isn't motion but another set further right outside the picture is. Time to convert the other probably. Only got this house in June so making small upgrades over time.

On another note, anyone know the offset and original tire size (p275/55r20?) for 2015 SLT? Had the polished aluminum 20x9. (Texas edition if that matters) Little searching hasn't turned up the answer yet.

I think these guys are pros, so I'm sure they have all the tools and have honed their techniques.

They get away clean and apparently don't even wake your dog if you have one.

They probably case a truck they are going to hit and know when your typical arrival departure patterns are.

There is big money here so they probably make a nice wage and there is probably an established mechanism for selling the goods.

As for removing the locks, I read somewhere they tighten all the other bolts down and this relieves tension on the lock allowing it to be removed easier.

Happened to me back in 2010 when they got me for my 24s when big wheels were in style and expensive. I was living in Katy(Houston) at the time. Stock is what people like and want nowadays. So they are targeting the stock 20s and 22s on trucks and SUVs. My uncle has 2 Silverados and they have stolen his stock 20s twice already.

Wheel locks and most car alarms dont help so dont even bother with them. If its gonna happen its gonna happen.

In this video they quote p275 55 r20 if these are your rims

Yup those are pretty much them except chrome vs polished. Now to find the offset.

    • You should be evaluating enough comparable trucks to know if one sounds different than the others - if you can't tell something is amiss by ear, it's probably fine.   Further evaluate enough trucks so that you can determine what 'normal' looks, sounds and feels like. Even if this is the first truck you're looking at and want to buy, go look at several more (regardless of whether you intend to buy them).   Insist on taking the vehicle to be evaluated, spend some time looking ALL OVER IT, look for overspray where it shouldn't be, paint damaged on bolt heads that are not normally removed. Check for rust, missing fasteners, non-factory style fasteners, suspiciously new parts especially on non-wear items. Check for leaks, check fluid conditions and level (dirty isn't the worst thing in the world but exceptionally low is).   Ignore tire shine and plastic dressing that makes an engine 'shiny'.    Beware of heavily fragranced interiors to mask odd odors that could hide potential mold from a leaky rear window.   Carfax is barely worth the paper it printed on. DO NOT trust it, a vehicle can be wrecked, fixed by a bunch of drunk hillbillies in their cousin's backyard and still have a clean Carfax. I can meticulously maintain my vehicle at home with top quality parts, materials and methods, the Carfax won't show a thing.   Taking it to a shop to have a teenager working afterschool (an inexperienced mechanic) evaluate it is a waste of time.   Lastly, a good, well taken care of truck will present itself as such, it would be generally comparable to a new truck. An uncared-for truck will show it, dents, scratches, seat stains, paint swirls, tears, scuffs, marks, rattles, vibrations, clunks, miss matched tires, etc...
    • If you suspect an engine swap or similar modification to the front accessory drive...   Maybe try spending some time plugging in different make/models/years that utilized the same engine (prime donor vehicles or swap candidates), vans, full-size cars (Impala, Roadmaster), 4x4 trucks to get a collection of pump and brackets that are similar along with their associated part numbers; take that collection of part numbers to the parts store to compare.   Another Okie.
    • There are knowns and unknowns.   Knowns:   - LT, RST and LTZ names/trims are gone.  The new "Silverado" trim level replaces all 3 of those.  You should be able to configure the Silverado trim to match the equipment levels of those three trims.    Unknowns:    - Custom.  No mention of what engines it will have access to.  Dual exhaust being standard does seem to confirm a V8 option for the Custom trim though.  My "guess" is that Custom will have access to the Turbomax and the 5.7.  I could be wrong though.  The current Custom trim went 2.7 Turbomax only the last 4-5 years, and only had a single side exit exhaust.     - 40-20-40.  I would imagine that is NOT going away.  They only focused on showing the new interior on the top trims, Trail Boss, ZR2 and High Country, hence the images shown are just bucket trucks up front.         The info should start coming fairly quickly over the next weeks and months.  Production is supposed to start up later this year, so when the order guide launches, you'll be able to see the configurations of engines, cabs, seating, etc.
    • I don’t do offloading other than a dirt road literally for me it’s more about the look which I really appreciate a nice looking truck and I like sitting a higher and not just because I’m 5 foot seven lol..  I’m also not compensating for anything lol..  but I truly think it’s safer on the road the higher you sit you have better visibility generally speaking especially a few of your Sideview mirrors adjusted correctly. They do make a programmer rough country does they’re $1000 for these new 2500s but when I do a gear swap that would be a moot point. A lot of the shops that I go to in my area they’re all saying the same thing that Yukon Detroit axle Eaton Spicer Richmond they don’t have gear shot for these trucks which surprises me because hasn’t this body style been out since 2020? I’m hoping soon they have something because yeah I’ll have to spend the 3K to get both axles done. Thank you for all of your response responses. I apologize if there’s any grammatical error errors as I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone without proofreading
