And update for the better? Clunk be gone?

Just dropped mine off for first oil change and am getting this update at the same time. I will update once I get to drive it for a day, I hope it does what many here have said it has.

well I got this done last Friday and so far don't really feel any difference. My truck usually shifted fine, I was just hoping it might get rid of the clunks but so far I still get them.

Just got home from getting mine done, took them 15 minutes which was a lot faster than I thought it would. No difference with mine, did a big ol' 1 to 2 shift clunk when pulling out of the dealership!

Just got mine back and there is a noticeable difference. Had to take several sharp turns and I accelerated out of them with very little pedal, unlike previously when I had to really give it some pedal to get moving. I will know for sure after a couple of days driving but I am pleased after a small sample size.

I haven't heard the dreaded clunk in quite some time now, and the truck was getting great gas mileage. There was a touch of shift flare between the early gears, but just barely.

 

Thursday's driving was not really much different. Then last night I was slowing down to make a turn and the dreaded clunk reared its ugly head. Immediately after, I was driving slow in a parking lot and I was getting some kind of ticking noise at very low speed. Never once have I heard that noise before. So now I think I killed my good gas mileage again until some learning gets done, and now I have the dreaded clunk back and a new ticking noise.

 

I live 2-1/2 miles off the beaten path (pavement), so it might be next week some time before I can try and diagnose where the ticking is coming from.

 

I've already been through two cold Michigan winters with the truck, so I wasn't worried about the TC sticking in 4x4, as I've never had a problem with that. I got this done to see if I could get rid of the flare, as small as it was. There might be some slight improvement in that, but to early to tell for sure.

I loaded my BB TCM tune and my trans shifting is now drawn out... Going back to stock to see if the issues is corrected.

Just after the update my trans was shifting, or should I say the timing of the shifts were sooner, in the lower rpm range if my pedal wasn't pushed down... I kinda like that but after the tune install the engine goes higher in the rpm's before the shift even at light pedal pressure... Not sure I like this...

Glad I don't have this transfer case - this isn't the first time I've heard complaints about random clunks on this particular Tcase!

Yes, my assumptions were correct: Back to stock TCM tune and my light pedal shifts come sooner in the rpm range than with the custom tune. My personal preference is to have shifting conform with pedal pressure: meaning on a hard start where you put the pedal down, shifting is up in the higher rpm range as should be... but with lower pedal pressure such as every day driving I prefer the trans to shift at a lower rpm or sooner and not drawn out up into the higher rpm... This may be near impossible with the "electronics" that now control these transmission unlike the old 4L60's.

I wonder if BB can comment on this or make such adjustments with there "tune's".

Blackbear Tuning can adjust shifting parameters based on throttle input. Just shoot them an email and ask. Took me a few times with BB to get the trans the way I like it. But I eventually got it just right.

My thought is I may have to do another data logging session because the update for the transfer case made a big difference on the way my truck responds.

I guess I am kinda old fashion because I like the way my old Vett shifts. Before the TC update on the 14, my BB TCM tune made the transmission much more "LOGICAL" on the shifts but back to stock and the update puts me so close to the way my Vett shifts...

I will certainly email Justin and see what he can do for me and post back...

I did data logs for BB before and after the Transfer case update on stock tuning. There is nothing that effected the transmission. Just an FYI, Blackbear is going to tell you the same thing.

 

But you can have them adjust your shifting based on throttle input and even road speed. Give em a shout.

had the update done yesterday and tooked the truck for a long trip 450 KM to get all the parameters in shape.

it needed about 100 km drive and the truck felt better and better.

After startup this morning it felt much better again and no compare to the old Stocktune.

It performes much smoofer with more responce and much better shifting, no clunks, no hesitation.

Now it´s time to save the GM updatetune on my Diablew intune and get Lewis to have a look over it.

I´m looking forward to get a new customtune 98 octane for the truck now and then it runs like hell!

Updates are : 14192, 15304, 14126

 

I am very happy with it now! Sad thing is, that GM needed 2 years to get the software right...

**UPDATE** I have email Justin and he replied that he can make that type of adjustments. I tried to explain what I was looking for, wanting the transmission to shift according to pedal pressure... I'll post what the outcome is when the tune gets here.

I am the op on this thread, http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/169997-transmission-fix-finally-for-14-15-sierra-silverado-woooot/and I took my truck in last week for an oil change, they flashed the computer with this update and since my truck shifts like trash. Worse than ever possibly, very noticeable on the street. I am taking it back this week for my guy to flash whatever update he did before. Man I cannot believe the difference from what my truck was like from this thread to how bad it behaves now. Whether towing loaded or just regular driving it seems just horrid.

 

I will see if I can't watch my guy do what he did and see if he is hooking up to a gm computer or something else. Really sad that the truck acts like this out of the box, honestly my only disappointment other than the headlights.
