I have asked this question also... No one has answered for sure yet! :dunno:

I answered this earlier in the thread.

It would be safe to return to stock ECM and TCM tuning for the update, but after they do the TCCM update you can return to your custom tunes. No problem. Justin from Blackbear analyzed my log files before and after the TCCM update and the ECM and TCM were NOT changed.

Tune away.

The problem is I don't have the capability to change mine back to stock, mine was done by a buddy that tunes and isn't near me. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to get this done, hopefully they don't write over my ECM and TCM tune.

I wouldnt risk it. Unless your buddy doesnt charge you for the tune.

There is no charge, not worried about that.

I guess worst case is that they overwrite my tune with the stock tune and new TCCM update, then I'll just have to make time to get my TCM re-flashed again.

No offense guys, I think it's stupid to do this update if u have a tune, while this is better then oem, its no tune like u guys have, its just better factory settings,

My thoughts exactly!!! Being that we are headed to the snow in a couple weeks I don't want my truck stuck in 4wd! LOL!!!

2014 5.3 v8 4wd. Had the update done, drives like a completely different truck. Finally, thank you GMC. Hope everybody else gets their issues squared away. My truck is an absolute joy to drive now for the first time, and also due the fact I can see at night now too since the headlight fix haha.

Can I ask how long it has been since you had the update? How much driving have you done since the update?

It's been 3 days, about 100 miles of mixed city/highway. Let's hope it stays this good!

This does NOT have anything to do with peoples custom ECM (Engine Control Module) and TCM (transmission control module) tunes.

This software update only affects the TCCM, the transfer case control module. The only reason I am telling people to revert to stock ECM and TCM tuning for the update, is the risk of their tune files being corrupted by GM's TCCM update. There is a low chance, but then again, better safe than sorry.

Not to mention this update also resolves an issue where the TCCM gets stuck in 4wd during colder temperatures. So its not only a drivability update, its a safety update as well.
