And update for the better? Clunk be gone?

Yes unless I'm just imagining it, the throttle response feels even better than before. The biggest difference is I have not once heard the downshift clunk but that happened with and without the tune. I'm happy now that it drives smooth and has no thuds while driving. I wouldn't say it drives completely different but there definitely is a noticible difference!

Not sure the throttle response is better but It's actually harder to get the back wheels to spin now it seems to hookup better.

It may be in my head but the millage is slightly better to, but, I will have to drive it much more before I will say it is.

Funny how one change can affect so many different things.

Just talked with my dealership, recall does apply to my truck. Have an appointment for 11am on Monday for Oil Change and Recall. They said it takes about half an hour to perform the update.

I don't understand how an update for a transfer case fixes flare shifting, and jerky slow speed shifting habits and just overall better throttle response and drivability, but it does! The biggest improvement is the slow speed driving though and lets me know, that no, this is not in my head because it has driven me crazy since owning this truck.

It now drives smooth when I just feather the throttle, say when driving in a parking lot, before it would bounce around between gears and just overall feel like the trans was slipping or something. My advise to everyone is get this fix done, if the recall doesn't apply to your truck tell them to do it anyways as a 15 and 14 are the same truck unless you have the 8 speed but I would think the x-case would be the same.

In any case, for me as of this moment, file this problem into the fixed folder finally! :gmc:

Well 15 miles of mixed driving. It doesn't seem to have that trip over your feet feeling in the 25/35 mph range anymore, I want to praise but will resist for another day just to be sure, but I'm optimistic

They won't perform a recall/update on a truck that does not qualify for it...

They need to do something else then, because the problem still persists in mid 2015 produced trucks.

My dealer called me today and advised that I need to bring it in for this fix. Looking forward to it after reading all this! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Wish I could help, I don't see why they can not perform this recall regardless if gm calls for it our not. The worst that can happen is the dealer loses the 10 minutes that it takes their tech to reflash this update. Maybe an actual tech can chime in here if we have any on this site, I'm no mechanic but I don't see what doing this update could possibly hurt even if gm says you already have it on your 15.

Once again no way was I ever able to feather the throttle pulling down my street like I was able to this morning, did it fix things 100% no, but around 90% yes and can very much live with it now.

Had this update applied this morning. And so far it does seem to drive a lot nicer. I haven't had the opportunity to sit in traffic yet. But it seems to shift nicer, the throttle feels lighter. I will give it a few hundred more miles to really decide though...

Agree with bottom paragraph on my second day of driving

I stopped into my dealer this morning and asked about this *update*. It turns out that the "Recall" 15304 goes all the way back to my early build date of 9/13. They did the update and oil change right then and I only drove home some 12 miles but didn't notice a whole lot of change.

My question now is "if I need to re-install my custom tune (BlackBear) now. I believe that this update was only for the transfer case...

Has anyone confirmed if custom tunes need to be reinstalled?

I returned to stock before getting the update and then put my black ear on after. Just in case the update changed something. But it doesn't. So I think you're ok.
