2016 Taillights

I have been looking at some black Anzo tail lights http://www.realtruck.com/anzo-led-tail-lights/311215.html for a 16 Silverado LTZ. The problem is the 16 LTZ comes with LED tail lights already and all of the ones I can find say for use without OE LED tail lights. Does anyone know if there are any out there for use with the 2016 models with OE LED lights? Thanks

So you are trying to get rid of the ltz led lights? Dang. I woulda bought them lol

That would be a expensive swap. probably 3K+ And thats just the headlights. I think youd have to probably change the bumper to.

i actually prefer my 2015 front setup over the 2016.

I think my next thing will be to get the console lid with the charger built into it.

You have a 2500 hd right ? Dont the 15 and 16s look the same in the hds ?

Ooooh, I hadn't even thought about that... Good idea. I will see if anyone wants to buy them if I can find aftermarket lights. Problem is I don't have the dang truck yet. Ordered in Dec and it's still is not even started yet. It's a midnight edition so I am wanting to make the tail lights blend in more with it rather than being a big red ugliness.

Yes it does come with the harness. The problem is. the harness on the LED tail light is square. Where as the plug under the bumper is more of an oval. So you cannot plug the new harness into the old obviously.

So we ended up testing each output of each wire from the harness already on my truck. Then we tested the output of each wire off the LED light. We ended up shortening the harness OFF the tailights themselves. Added a nice pinned connector. On the stock harness FROM the truck, we cut off all the OEM bulb harness's. And again repinned a nice connector to them. Then we just plugged them in.

We did wire in a resistor on the turn signal side of things as it does hyper flash and does give you a warning on the dash. That was again properly wired to our harness. There are no butt connectors, twisted wires on this. Everything is crimped, pinned, soldered(resistor wires).

We did notice that their was an extra red wire on the LED harness. When we looked at the schematic that was provided above, it appears its another ground wire. We determined that has to be something to possibly do with the new 2016 bcm module.Maybe another trigger for a warning or something? It however, does not seem to affect the function of the tail lights. My parking lights work, signals work, brake lights work, signal with brakes, lights flash properly when i lock/unlock the truck. Come on when the truck is remote started ect. Nothing seems to of been lost.

Excellent work liquidfx, have a question as far as resistor placement. Can u tell me exactly which wire the resistor is hooked up too? I've encountered the same hyper flash problem for a 2016 Sierra 4x4 single cab short bed, for the front and rear signal lights. Hoping the resistor will solve this problem. And everything else is working fine the truck is a full all terrain conversion 2016. Thnx in advance

Nice install! I definitely like the look of the new LED tail lights. I have a 2016 Silverado LT and was wondering what it would take to maybe swap them. I guess I'll just have to add this to my to do list!

Any chance of getting those part numbers?

Could you just take the connector off the old tail light and repin it to the 2016 LED tail with the resistor added inline on the turn signal wire?

Thanks for posting this and job well done! I too, like many, was wondering if this retrofit was possible. When I bought my truck last month, I thought the all the lighting was LED. Little did I know, it was only on higher models. Not on my 2016 Crew Cab LT. Now wishing I could go back and reevaluate other models.

You'll need 2 Molex MX150 4pin gray connectors and 2 50w 3ohm resistor

Here is a link for the connector

Just reading the 2017 Chev 1500 brochure (no sign of the 2500HD brochure yet) & was wondering about the taillight swap. So when does the kit come out Liquid? LOL

Looks very thought out. I used to play around a bit w/ the wiring back in the 80s, but really haven't had much call in recent years. I've been more of a mechanical guy, winch, suspension & body lift install in my '82 K15. Remote oil filter in my '94 K1500 & front bumper trim (remove air dam to start) on my '04.

One thing I did notice and am curious about is you said 50w 3ohm resistors but in your pictures you have a 50w 6ohm resistor? Just wondering if a typo or you changed your resistors you were using?

Yeah thats not my picture. That is OPs pic I believe. I tried with both 6ohm you need 2 per taillight with 3ohm you only need 1 per taillight

Cool thanks also when you wired in resistor did you wire power to signal Wire and ground to the ground or both leads on resistor on signal wire?
