Thoughts after 1 year of ownership of my '14

Hit the 1 year mark this week with my '14 I purchased brand new late October 2014. Put 21k on her (odometer pic is from earlier this week). Truck has been great to me so far. I haven't experienced any "issues" that some on this forum talk about. With all the mods I've done (see signature) I've got the truck just how I want it. I drive 60 miles/day minimum, almost 2 hours in the seat, might as well enjoy the truck. It may look like a pavement princess, but it takes a beating every day. So I'm interested to see how rugged these trucks really are after more miles...

Mine too, and my '02 really took a beating for >280,000 miles before the cab started to go from all the salt.

Very nice truck! Glad to hear another member/owner isn't having problems with their truck also. We're in the same boat even though I haven't had my truck a year yet.

I bought my '14 on Nov.13, 2013. I've been driving it nearly two years and it's been flawless. It's an LTZ so it has a few more bells and whistles to go bad but so far it's been great. The best vehicle I've ever owned and I've had quite a few.

The wheels make your truck look great!

I had 99k kms 9n my 2014 before trading it in, just over 2 years of ownership, never had any real issues with it other then upper control arm/ball joints due to the leveling kit. Awesome truck.

You literally lived in that thing.

Edit: just realized that is about 30,000 miles per year. Was thinking that was all in one year.

Used to drive the 25,000 +/- per year going back & forth to work.

Roughly 700km a week plus recreational use.

We just got a few 2015 silverado's work trucks at my company a few weeks ago. We put about 25k miles a year on them and take them to some pretty rough places so I guess we will see how they hold up to a few hours of interstate driving and a few hours of crawling around in 4 low on a daily basis. The ones we got have a full brush guard and winch so it is about as high off the ground in the front as a Kia car with the extra weight.

The place I work runs all GM trucks and this field alone has about 50 of them as fleet rides..... all LT or SLE Z71 double cabs and crew cab half tons. The trucks operations run get miled out in about a year ( or less) and after a year they have roughly 80000 to 90000 miles on them. The GMT900 trucks after that period on these roads were junk...... balljoints and tie rods falling out of them at about 60000 miles or less, constant other issues as well. The 2014+ ones have been good....... some runs are on their third K2XX now and other than gas, tires and oil changes thats about all they have to do them. The only complaints were the shoddy headlights on the Sierra's so they swapped to only Silverado's.... now that the 16's are out I guess we will see what happens. I don't take really anything from the internet forums for how good or bad a truck is...... for these I can use here and honestly the way these trucks hold up is why I bought one for work purposes now too. Once I get my new truck rigged out its about a 40000 to 50000 mile a year affair for me so we will see how it stands up.

I'm pretty much like cbrown, except my truck is still stock. Bought in March of '14 and just a bit over 30,000 miles now. Two hours a day, in the seat, 5 days a week. Other than the radio and the "very once in a while" tranny shift hiccup, this truck has been nothing but awesome for me. Best vehicle I've ever had in my 46 years of driving! Kudos to GM.

One thing about the tires though. Much complaining about the GY SR-A's when they first hit the pavement. I was one, who after having a winter with them didn't see any problems. Well, now that they are about half tread, it's a different story, and it's not even winter yet. I've felt those POS slide numerous times cornering on wet roads. Just two days ago, I had to "catch" my truck going around a bend I take every day. Now, it's going to be nothing but a big question mark in my head about these tires when the roads are wet. Bad part is, I'll have to put up with them, until this time next year. :(
