Just wondering how bad it is for Ecotec engines to go WOT now and again ? How often do you guys punch it and wind it up a bit ?

Generally, I run out of road and law before running out of WOT limitations of the powerplant. Presuming you are beyond break-in, have at it.

depends on how long you plan to own the truck!! if you will sell it with in 3-4 years and only do 60k-70k miles you can probably go wot every time you get in it. once or twice a week for me when someone in traffic is annoying me.

That's pretty much the only time I do it is when someone is pissing me off in traffic. Had to do it again tonight and so it made me wonder. Ha ha

A Range Rover Supercharged tried it yesterday afternoon. I'll admit, it took some work, but he backed down.

I'd like to say that he looked gooood, while doing it. But alas he looked old, bulky, luxurious, and British. Veeeery British.

Yeah, I'm good for at least once a day. I'm talking, traction control/stabilitrak off, manual-5th, pedal to the metal. I know this truck can take it since my 07 with 8" lift, 35s, stock gearing, old 4spd got pushed HARD for 80k miles with zero issue. I feel safe with the larger axel the max tow brings and the 6spd which is rated at higher outputs then the 4spd. The gearing in this truck really do allow it to move quite well for a 3ton brick. Feels fast to me!

until your engine goes ker-plunk... no real way of telling how many times it can take it... but i would not worry about it. i used to race the crap out of my 02 silverado 5.3 4spd all the time and stupidly traded her in with 198k on the clock with no engine issues. also never had to open up the trans but i did break the weak 10 bolt couple of times.
