Why The Chevy/GMC ?

I'm a Ford guy who has owned several Super Duty trucks.

Ford is still superior IMO.

 

I have owned several SD trucks, and NOTHING has really changed styling-wise since 1998. A tweak here, and engine upgrade there, but basically the same cab, box, everything has remained the same.

The new Ford is coming out next year, but it's a year too late. I've waited long enough for something new from Ford.

I wanted a new truck now, and I definitely didn't want another super stale looking Ford SD.

 

I have no complaints with the GMC.

Sharp lines, and a surprising ride.

GM Discount. I get a 50K truck for 35K. Last truck was 40K for 24K. Like the looks of the 14-15 better then the other trucks too. Last truck was a 13. It was ugly but it was an amazing deal.

Was looking to get out from "under" my Mercedes, traded a 2013 F-150 Limited with 12K miles in on a 2013 GL450 with 48K miles (ya I know dumb move), warranty was needing on the F-150, got a 2 year maintenance and 5 year extend warranty on the Merc. After I bought it I found LOTS of imperfections, don't get me wrong many ways I traded up but there were too may miles, imperfections on it I could not take it any longer. Too hight for my wife to get in comfortably and the running boards (if you can call them that) were useless needless to say. Shopped around, started looking at RAM Limited, WAY too much money for what you get, still old tech involved. Co-worker suggested I contact a local GMC dealer and I looked, dissevered the 2016 Sierra's had CarPlay, LED headlights/tail lights, front ends looked better then even the new fords. Then when I got looking at price and what I I got, I could NOT pass up the deal. So in short.

So far I love it, I removed the 6" boards and installed AMP Powersteps, finished off with LED's in places I could not believe they didn't just install them in the first place. I will add some footwell lights next, and then a bed cover (still shopping, had a Paragon on the 150, so I may just get another one of those).

Price. I got a huge discount and many extras thrown in because my truck was on the lot a long time. I originally wanted a Ford but there was a 10K price difference with comparable options at the time.

Ford Escort, Lincoln Versailles. That's when I said enough is enough

 

Then they come out with the slogan "Have you driven a Ford lately?" That should have been my clue that they admit screwing customers but I broke down and bought a Ford Ranger for a second truck.

It was a toy and got worse gas mileage than my Silverado.

 

Also bought a 2014 Grand Caravan to replace a Montana since GM doesn't make vans anymore. The Caravan is a dinosaur compared to the older Montana

I drove all three Domestic full size trucks and a Nissan Frontier. Just liked the K2's the best so I got my first one, then I got a great deal on the second one and ditched the crappy GMC HIR headlights... Dodge, granted I only drove one but, I got about one block down the street and said, no thanks. Ford just seemed cheap inside for the trim level I could afford (STX), I couldn't afford an Eco Boost, I didn't like the N/A V6 and the 5.0 was rated for 14/19 and at the time (2013) gas was not exactly cheap so I was semi concerned about getting decent MPG.

Tell us you didn't like your new F-150 platinum, and we'll take your Ford comment as apples to apples.

 

Every automaker builds a cheap junker to lure people who can't afford a higher quality vehicle.

I could give multiple examples of GM and Ram as some of the all time junker rust bucket builders.

 

The positives over the Ford in the truck department is IMO, is that GM builds the best gasoline engines, period. Diesel is another matter.

The styling is sharp and the ride is excellent.

Also, resale value in western NY is as solid as it gets.

The GM is usually cheaper because GM drives sales with rebates, and although used trade prices should be affected, they are not.

I traded in my 2011 for an unbelievable $1,000 less that the cost of new, and I purchased my new 2500 at $1,500 under invoice and another 2k in rebates.

Tough to beat that.

Style. Like the looks. Especially after I lifted it up.

 

The interior was nice the cocoa dune on the high county was different. Like it. Drives great and has a locking rear diff for when things get messy.

I've owned both Chevy and GMC. Same truck in my eyes, GMC has just a few more frills.

 

Last time in, either the GMC dealers didn't have the exact model I wanted, or they did and weren't dealing on it.

 

Ended up in a Chevy this time.

I've always been a Ford guy, bought a gmc Sonoma in 93 and it was the biggest piece of junk I ever had.

 

After a weeks worth of looking, test driving, and researching,I finally bought a 15 Silverado after checking the Fords and Dodges. What swayed me towards Chevy was the price, a comparably equipped Ford was another 8k over what the Chevy was and Dodge didn't have anything that interested me.

 

I have to say that chevy has really raised the bar, gone are the stupid gray buttons and knobs everywhere. Nice asthetics and interior ergonomics. I'm still trying to get over the fact that I drive a chevy but I really enjoy my truck. Once Blackbear climbs onboard, I'll be a happy camper, data has been logged and waiting on my tune.

Had a 01 suburban with over 300000 miles. Got a gd deal on my 14 and liked the interior

Definitely not brand. It was looks and the price I could get my Chevy for. Also the configuration i wanted was readily available at the Chevy dealer.

My family has nearly always been a GM family with my folks constantly getting Chevy vehicles when I was growing up. We had an S10 Blazer and an Astro when I was a kid; loved both!

 

Today our other vehicle is a 2015 Traverse while I have the 2015 Sierra. I looked at Ford as an option and the sales guy never got back with me over email, plus the GMC had a better discount to absorb some of the negative equity that we had with the Acadia we traded in. The Acadia had some issues that I couldn't get our original GMC dealer to get fixed under warranty. The dealer I purchased the truck from is night and day better!!

 

I know a lot more about the GM vehicles than I do any other brand (like engines, trims, etc). My absolute favorite engine is the original 4.3 because it was so easy to work with.
