My new truck

Recommended Posts

I bought my truck yesterday. I`ve been lurking here for a few months since I had my eyes on a Chevy/GMC . I had ordered it in December and wanted a few things different I guess. The color is Tungsten but looks black sometimes and has a cocoa dune interior with really nice leather seats. I went with the max tow and longer bed. It is a LTZ. 2 wd, 5.3 with 8 speed tranny. I am coming from a 2000 F350 SRW diesel that was a great truck. This 1500 drives like a nice car with a little pep . I have a few questions though.

1) Which catch can is the best and easiest to install?

2) Which floor mats are the best?

3) What else should I do to the truck prior to driving it daily? post-154030-0-46943900-1456080948_thumb.jpg

Thanks for your help Ron

Congrats Ron on the new truck!

1) I would recommend the Elite E2-X catch can. You can get the single or dual exit. There are others but from what I've read the E2-X is a great can. I went with the dual for peace of mind. Some say it's over kill but I'm one of those people that likes over kill when there is a chance it will help in the long run...especially for something like $15 more. Do a quick search and you'll see a lot on them

2) Floor mats: I haven't gotten any yet since mine came with stock one but been looking into them. Again do a quick search. Lot of people like Husky. I wish they made the ones I like in tan (I also have the cocoa dune interior). I'm also looking at Aries. Always had WeatherTech mats before but haven't read good stuff one them here.

3) Change your oil at 500, some people get clear bras or rockers before chips, enjoy the truck! I found that using 89 octane fuel I get better performance. I'm sure some others will have comments as well.

Nice truck - enjoy.

Max tow or did you add the mirrors?

I really like my Rugged Ridge floor mats, and they are a lot less than those other brands.

Nice truck. Enjoy.

I have weathertech floormats and i have had no issues with them. some guys have had issues with theirs but mine are just fine, order from weathertech directly. also i would def get a clear bra on your hood. i got it on my grille and bumper but was waiting to get it on my hood and now i have like 4 nice size chips on my hood.

Floor mats I went the Husky X-Act for the front and weather tech for the rear. I've had WT's in my other vehicles but will be purchasing huskys from here on out. They fit great and feel like a heavy duty mat.

Bag it and do some 26" wheels? Seriously just drive it and mod as you like! I waited until the truck said it was time for an oil change, about 7k miles. Personally running OEM rubber mats right now (my truck came with carpeted mats). I may upgrade to Lloyds mats when the weather gets better. Had them in my CTS-V and they're one of the best quality carpeted floor mats made.

Not sure on the catch can. Lots of info here on them. Personally not using one.

Thanks for the replies. This site is a wealth of information. I am ordering the elite x2 catch can today and still trying to figure out the floor mats.

You are going to love that color down here in Florida...trust me... as long as you got the heated cooled seats.

Real nice truck!!!

Why do you think you need a catch can? Not running one and if there are problems with the engine because of it then this will be my last GM.

Husky X-act mats up front and regular huskys in the back.

Get the windows tinted because it just looks good on a dark vehicle, especially being in FL.

I have no issues with my WeatherTech's. They work as designed and fit perfect.
