Window vent shades

I used those flimsy stick-ons that mount on the frame above the window - once! - rear portions eventually detached and made a real mess when trying to reattach or remove. Since '04 used only the Weathertech in channel on my Chryslers, Avalanches and Silverado and only trouble I ever had with window reversal was in the initial install which disappeared after the first one or two closings until they were fully seated. Original instructions on my '04 set (made in Germany at the time) indicated cycling of the window 4-5 times and letting it sit for a few hours to insure tight seating. They are made of heavier gauge plastic and the in-channel portion ground thinner to prevent window interference....once installed will not move, but can be easily removed and reinserted.....I prefer the lighter shade they offer to avoid a darkened area in the driver's window going into a left turn.....In my opinion, worth the extra bucks. And the in-channe look better!

I have AVS in channel shades with no issues.

I have the in channels, much better than the stick on/fly off models, but I have had several issues with the auto-up

I have had Weathertech for all of my vehicles I have ever had. (2005 Lexus IS250, 2012 Chrysler 300, 2014 Silverado) No problems with any of the models and I love them. They just make a strange sound the first time or two when you roll the window up before they are settled in. Hope you're enjoying them!

I don't know if this matters but the GM "OEM" ones are made by EGR:

(those are the smoke ones -- they also come in matte black)

 

Maybe they work better since GM probably contributed to the design.

Thanks for the link, my driver's side broke a while back and I'm calling tomorrow to see if they will sell just that one piece.

I went to their site and it appears that they no longer offer the matte finish. Which is what I have. Might be a DOT safety thing?

I just checked this morning and the Matte is still available (I even emailed them and they responded). Just be aware the Matte ones are more like paint - they are not translucent and you can't see through them. Here is the 2014+ GM Crew set:

Right now I am down to either the EGR or WeatherTech ones. For our trucks the EGR ones use tape to keep them in the channel. The WeatherTech ones have an extra edge near the mirror on the front ones and 2 metal clips for the rear ones (the clips snap into the weatherstrip channel then are hidden once the visors are installed).

I had AVS tape ons on my '98 (on there when I bought it used) and over time the adhesive came undone so I ended up taking them off. I bought Weathertech in-channels for my '14. They've been on there for 2 years and they've held up great. They haven't moved and hasn't stopped the windows from going all the way up when doing the auto up. Some people say they have, but I haven't. I installed as the directions said which part of it was to keep the windows up for 24 hours without putting them down any so maybe some of those people didn't do that.

I just installed the EGR in channel visors about a week ago. So far so good. Everything fit nice and snug. The auto up feature works fine on my truck.

I just ordered the EGR ones today. They are the ones that are sold by GM on www.chevroletaccessories.com and www.gmcaccessories.com. MSRP is $95 + shipping, my link above to another online dealer had them for $76 + shipping, but I actually found them on Amazon for $46 with free shipping on $49 or with Prime. I liked both them and the WeatherTech but at that price I'll try the EGR ones (cheapest I could find the WT ones was around $115 shipped). Here is the Amazon link:
