Garybee1508 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I'm looking to get either in channel weather tech or avs vent shade for a 2016 Denali, need an opinion on which is better. Saw some reviews that they cause problems with the window closing
dsr611 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I have weathertech in-channel vent visors on my 2010 and don't have any issues with my windows closing...the only issue is (and I'm not real OCD about it) that they will scratch the top 1/4" or so of the windows where they rub against the windows when they are rolled up. You don't notice the scratches when the windows are completely up or completely down so I don't worry about it.

amxguy1970 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 A single person sample size on an different year and body style truck helped make your decision? I have no info on this matter but just thought that was funny. Would a 2001 owner be able to help you decide which lift kit to get or a 1988 owner on an air intake? Seriously though there were some issues, search for the thread that covers this topic and that will be much more useful and have info on all the brands from 14+ owners... Tyler
Alex Hardy Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I have the Weathertech in-channel visors. Had problems with the auto close feature for probably the first 2-3 months I had them on. Over time that problem diminished, I haven't had an issue for 5 months now. I'm happy I went the in-channel route as it looks much cleaner.
Doug64 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I have had the AVS in-channel for about 2 months and have had no closing or scratching issues.
sk Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I don't know if this matters but the GM "OEM" ones are made by EGR: https://www.egrusa.com/ https://www.egrusa.com/product/chevrolet/silverado-1500/chevrolet-silverado-1500-crew-cab-window-visors-channel-smoke-4pc-1 (those are the smoke ones -- they also come in matte black) Maybe they work better since GM probably contributed to the design.
eTruckGear Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Will be glad to help. EGR is a very nice quality. Perhaps not as big brand as others but great stuff.
SouthernSilveradoGuy85 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I have Weathertech in-channels and never had a problem with the window going up when it does it automatically. I've had them for pretty much the whole time I've had the truck which is 2 years.
OldDawg45 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I have the AVS in-channel. Occasionally I will have an auto up failure which will make the window go back down but has only happened a handful of times... All in all, I like them. No excessive wind noise and sit closer to the body than the tape on type. I would buy them again on. A new truck.
cbrsilv15 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Had a guy at work with the AVS ones.and they kept coming out. He added tape to them and they still came out. I'll stay away from those. You can get them ad advance for around $43 with the coupon code.

My '98 had AVS tape ons when I got it and one day the driver side one came halfway undone so it would slap the truck while going down the interstate. I would push them as hard as I could and they would stay stuck around town but not once I got on the interstate. So I did take them off and never replaced them with anything else. That's what had me stay away from the tape on kind for my '14 and got in-channels by Weathertech. Haven't had a problem with the auto up with the window or coming loose on either the front or back after 2 years.
Sidewayz Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 My in channels would fail every time I auto up the window. The dealer just added the vent shades and I dont care for the look but they're functional.
