Hey guys went camping this weekend and the engine light came on what does that mean?Looked in the owners manual it said it could be an emissions problem or something else well I was like what the heck.I have already had this truck in 4 timesfor the service 4 wheel drive .Now this what could it be I am amazed at this with a truck that just turned 15,000 miles to have these kind of problems.I guess I got a pos do not know what else to say but I have to spend more time at the dealer.Any thoughts on what it could be would be appreciated

It could be anything from a loose gas cap to any number of sensors on the engine, there's absolutely no way to know until a scanner is hooked up to it...

It could be one of hundreds of codes. Do you have an active OnStar subscription? You can call them and ask.

^^^^Beat me to it, Active Onstar account could tell you what code has thrown.

Too much beer could be the problem. :happysad:

without knowing what code was being thrown, there are literally hundreds of things that it could be. Get the code scanned for free at an auto parts store or take it to the dealer.

Hundreds and hundreds of possibilities going on with that light. When you get to the dealer, can you ask if they can make that light talk or text what the actual problem is from now on? Tell them that otherwise, they may as well just remove the word Engine from the light and replace it with :dunno:

Most likely sensors deemed water in the gas , I had that happen on mine, I decided to buy a $100 code reader so I can decide on my own whether serious or not.

OOOOORRRRR, you can scan it for free at an auto parts store and not assume its water in the gas.

or you can read my post where the action I took was not to assume and I purchased a code reader. Also you are assuming that everyone has a parts store near by that does code reads, many don't including myself, nearest one is 30 miles away.

If it is a transient code, it should go out after driving it a few times. If the problem still exists, it will stay on. Like others said, its under warranty, why not just take it in to the dealer to get it fixed?

Also, auto parts stores in CA that don't have a service department aren't able to scan codes for you.

If the light is steady, there is a stored code that should be addressed ASAP at a service facility.

If the light is flashing, it is a serious fault and the vehicle should be stopped immediately to prevent further damage. If it continues to flash after a restart.....call for a tow under warranty to the nearest GM dealer....any GM dealer can service a Chevy under warranty only if it is an emergency repair requiring a tow.
