Does your current truck have a bed liner? If so, how many tears in that?

I have a Factory type Rhino Liner....may have one small dent, and the truck has seen some use....no tears

I've had four in a row until I bought this 2500HD for a change up.

Nice truck and no real complaints, but nowhere near Ford engineering quality.

I just bought a 2016 gmc sierra denali 6.2 cc and man this thing has some seroius power. I dont think a 3.5 will match up with a 6.2...

I didn't start this post to put down gm , they make a great product. I also drove a new Denali 6.2 and it was a beast. But the technology in the ford is way ahead of gm . If anyone is interested I'll post back in a week or so with an update .

I've driven a few 3.5L EB's these past few months, and they have some serious go power. One of my employees had a brand new XLT rental crew cab 4x4 that I took for a spin around the block last month and man would it pull once the turbos spooled. I had no issues laying down rubber at every intersection. Even if it's not faster, the throttle tuning and transmission tuning I found to be a lot sharper and it definitely made my truck feel sluggish. Now, my 6.2L is the previous, non direct injection model, but she definitely has some work done to her and is making an extra 30 hp at the tires, so it's no slouch.

 

Ford's technology is definitely one of the key attractions for me as well, and I'm curious to see what the new second gen ecoboost with the 10 speed automatic is like. I'm not even concerned about the aluminum body as I don't abuse my trucks as is, I treat them like big 4x4 sedans, haha. If I want to abuse a vehicle with a load, I take the shop truck from my office.

I think its funny how everyone wants to compare a motor with 2 turbos on it. How do you think a 4.3 would run with 2 turbos on it?

Hey, GM's 3.6L V6 with twin turbos is a fantastic engine. I've driven it in a CTS V Sport. I'd gladly own a truck with that.

It would be interesting to hear back in a few months to allow time for some of the novelty to wear off. I suspect you will like the truck as long as it functions properly and the dealership is nice. Often our dismay over a particular brand is a result of one faulty product or a poor customer service experience. One manufacturer is not ahead of the other in technology. They are both trying to appeal to the largest number of consumers. They try different strategies to appeal to the largest number of customers. Some people measure the quality of a truck by its ability to "lay rubber" at intersections. My tires spun at an intersection the other day so I'm looking for better tires!

I highly doubt someone who is on a GM site leaving for Ford will come back in a few months and say "You know what guys, I made a mistake, I should of stuck with my GMC" I lurk over at f150forums.com from time to time, and that site is a lot like here, a lot of complaints and buyers remorse. Sometimes a change of brand is what is needed and sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Sometimes that is all thats needed. Psychology is a large part of vehicle ownership. After driving a single brand for decades, a switch is never a bad thing.

 

And, such as in my case, if you've been having a bad experience with a particular manufacturer, simply telling yourself to live with it doesn't quite do the trick, haha.

Haha, I know many guys who have done the exact opposite. The 5.0 is a nice engine, but goddam is it slow. It doesn't have a very large torque band, so everytime the truck shifts, it has to get back into the meat portion of the torque band.

 

Test driving an F150 with the 5.0 actually turned me off on Ford for awhile, haha. Hopefully the 10 speed helps it out abit more. I'd definitely take a tuned 5.3L over the 5.0L.

I agree if you are having a problematic truck, and there are several members here who have and switched and i don't blame them. However, overwhemingly, there are more people here and on other manufacuterer sites who just have an itch for a new vehicle. When that happens, they justify to themselves for taking it in the shorts on a trade-in and plopping more money down for a new vehicle by saying their last vehicle had issues, such as the power sucks, seating position sucks, sunglasses don't fit in the sunglass holder, no coin holder, don't like the color, factory tires suck....etc all things that would of been apparent during a thorough test drive. My point is many if not most people only "want" a new vehicle not "need"in because there is something tangible wrong with the vehicle they have. Case in point with this very post.....OP jusr wants to go back to Ford for menial reasons. The average American buys a new car every 4 years, not because cars wear out at that point, but because as a society we want the latest and greatest. We've all been there a time or two.
