Leaving Gmc for ford

Agree with all SilveradoSteve said except everyone talking down previous ride. I enjoyed my previous, a 1998 Dodge Durango we bought new in '98, and if it wasn't showing its age at 17 years old would still be driving it.

I don't think folks are butt hurt...just annoyed by the "look at me" posts.

I don't understand someone's reasoning to come on a GM site to tell people they're switching brands. Do you need validation? Do you need support? Are you gloating? Buy the truck you want and join their respective board so you can talk up your new ride and talk down your previous ride. Do you really need our approval? Are people that vain they need a celebration they're leaving a virtual meet board? If i want inputs on a specific brand of vehicle I'll go check out their associated site. Like i said before, i don't expect someone who dumped a GM for a Ford or vice versa on any other brand to really give an honest perspective on the difference of the two. Everyone will talk up their current ride and talk down the last. Also someone's reason for hating their truck isn'tgoing to make me diskike mine.

Im no GM fanboy, my last truck was a Tacoma and a Ranger before that. OP hope the Ford works out for you.

Good post. You said what I was thinking.

FWIW I'm new here, having just bought a 2016 Sierra 5.3 Z71 CC that I traded a bullet proof Tundra in for. The Toyota had 148k miles and it was time for a new one. I could have bought (just about) anything I wanted and after a lot of research, bought GMC. My last GM product was a 1982 Oldsmobile. So here I am, I think I've got a beautiful truck and if I don't have any gremlins, I will be this GMC dealer's biggest promoter. And my 5.3 seems so far to do everything this 57-year-old wants to do.

I was responding to j-tenner's reply asking for experience with the F150 after the initial purchase.

For some reason members of GM forums get all upset about non owners participating. Not nearly the case with Super Duty, Ram and F150 forums. Holy cow, I was going to participate off and on to keep up with what's happening with the GM light duty trucks. Many on here are so close minded it will make it less than fun. I still put my 2 cents in on the Ram Cummins, Ram, Super Duty, Mustang forums and rarely get rude replys. This one and the Corvette Forum (I'm on my 8th Corvette) do their best to insult non owners which I don't get.

I don't and have never needed anyone's approval for what I own or what I do with it while own it. I also try not to put down products I don't own although many here seem to think I am just because the GM product didn't meet my needs and wants right now. I don't think that is putting GM down. Not much different than the fact that everything I own is black. Does that mean I'm putting down red, blue, green or whatever? No, black is on my list of wants and needs is all.

So, whatever...... I'll bow out and lurk so that I don't upset some that think I'm bashing GM. Geesh.......

No need to be thinned skinned. The Ford sites are equally as ignorant.

I own both a Ford Super Duty PSD, and GM 2500HD gas truck.

The Ford is far superior in almost every way, but since I own two trucks, I enjoy the change up.

I plow with the GMC, and I have to buy a shorter wheelbase truck to fit in my garage with the plow attached. I have to say that the GM double cab with the separate door offers a much better exterior/interior combination in that segment.

I've finally traded in my 2015 GMC Sierra SLT after 17k miles . To be fair the Gmc is a nice truck I really have no complaints with the truck except the engine and Trans just are not for me. The truck gets great gas mileage but has no balls and the Trans is clunky. I tried a programmer and it still sucks , so I purchased a 2016 f150 platinum ecoboost.

Funny I had the same issue when I test drove the 3.5EB. No balls or response unless in the boost. Just wasn't for me. 6.2 + 3.73 and i've never looked back. I might could see this if you had the 5.3. Now I will say once you get the EB tuned she'll be a strong one. Have fun!

Nothing is perfect, nothing.

There are some things I not happy with on my truck, but not worth the MONEY or effort to buy another one.

Switch brands? Why? Same sh**, just a different color.

Take a look around, they all have issues and there will always be the personal opinions on what could be improved. :happysad:

I'm BRAND NEW to this forum and have participated in a moderately limited way on some Toyota forums.

After looking around, I'd have to compliment. Y'all seem like a pretty civilized group.

Your reply shows you don't get it. Most if not all around here don't give 2 shits what you choose to drive. If you choose a Ford great, no one cares, buy what you want with your hard earned money. Just cause you own a Vette doesn't give you any points with me. What gets annoying is the people who feel they need to make others miserable because they choose something other than a GM. That and the people who announce thier exit from the forums with their marginal participation on this board like they want a ticker tape parade. Hopefully those massage seats on your F150 can ease your butt hurt. Again no one here cares what you drive outside of a GM, if you want to talk about how behind GM is, go to pickuptrucks.com is, here are plenty of yahoos there who will bite, same with Twcoma forums, Tundra forums and F150 you get he point. GM sells plenty of trucks that do truck level work, saying GM is behind because it doesn't leave rubber on pavement is childish and stupid. I like that my V8 gets better mileage than both turbo V6s from ford without all the gimmicks.

I own a truck, it has a v8 and a transmission, it gets me through the snow and I sometimes pull a trailer. The shitty thing is every couple hundred miles I have to put gas in it.

I'm calling mcdonalds and telling them I'm eating lunch at burger King, just to see if they care or to ask me if they will see me the next morning to purchase my medium Carmel mocha because bk doesn't offer it, which I will,

Dummy, it would have made more sense to make a thread of contemplating going to ford rather than saying you did on a gm forum, then maybe I'd write another paragraph begging you not to go. I'm here to learn how to change a damn light bulb not to learn what kind of golf clubs you use or other stupid ass purchases you made. Now how do you save FM presets on a 15 silverado, that is actually a serious question, if nobody can answer that then I'm trading this piece of shit in for a ford
