Leaving Gmc for ford

The original question the guy asked was answered, sounds like your trying to justify your 6.2 perchase, a few people have answered. Glad you like yours, some people can get e85. Some people can't see the forest for the tress. Done with you, been fun.

Sounds like you have it all figured out.

Good for you.

Lol. Yep... just has to play the retirement BS card.... his multi home living.... the supposed built old bucket and whatever other crap he spews to justify buying a 5.3. Some people's children.... Whatever it takes to get you off I guess. Funny thing is I am buying a 5.3 like his to drive into the ground at work....

One more time just for fun, I don't have the 14 any more, when I retired I sold it, with 100k miles on it I drove a lot in my work. I traded every two years. Now drive an SUV, I used trucks for work not pleasure. If I need to haul I use the 92. So it's not just a toy. I miss it thou with the tune, gear on E85. I had lots of fun with my customers some who drove Eco boost fords, hemis, and 6.2s they didn't believe I drove a 5.3. Have fun.

Then I've read that the new HEMIs (ever since coming back with it a few years ago) cost a lot in maintenance. Not talking about problems, but just routine maintenance. Just what I've read though. I guess then he'll try the Tundra and be made fun of because he's in a Jap truck and won't know what to do next.

That's not hard, he can say mines made in Texas where was yours made, I tried that one on my brother in law when he bought a Tundra. I had the double cab mine was made in the U.S.

Who cares where it's made lol...and the Tundra is a joke of a truck. If you think otherwise you are welcome to buy mine...

There are still a lot of folks who try to by "Made in the U.S.A. I think they care. Bring American jobs back seems to be a popular topic these days, not that I care to debate that point. Just saying some people do care.

It takes 12 parts plants to supply 1 assembly plant.

The Japanese sell that "made in America" bull crap, and Americans are too stupid as a whole to get it.

I couldn't care less where the foreign truck was "made", the truck parts and jobs to make them come from Tokyo.

It's a step in the right direction, when the U.S. company's move away the foreign co.move here. I try to buy from made in the USA. If you really check most co. that were once American may not be anymore. I look for asembly not who owns it when giving an option.

In a full on race from 0-100, if the 5.3 is on E85, it will only be two truck lengths behind the 6.2L. I took a trip in my friends 16 5.3L and it was very potent, much much more than my 10 5.3 with 3.08's. My 6.2 is an animal but 383hp and 416lb-ft isnt that far off the L86. In fact, you would almost be lieing if you said you felt the difference. Most ass dyno's couldnt tell.

I bought my '14 LTZ before the 6.2 was available. I read all the stuff saying how powerful the 6.2 was compared to the 5.3. I rarely tow, and then I never tow anything heavier than a motorcycle trailer. I run E-85 in my 5.3 and have been happy with the get up and go for a pickup truck. The 6.2 power thing still was bugging me. If it was so much quicker than my truck, I wanted one. I drove 3 6.2s. The first two were '15s priced right just before the 16s came out. Then I drove a '16 at a different dealer. It was low on gas and the sales guy put in a few gallons of regular 85 octane. None of the 3 trucks felt as spunky as my little 5.3 on E-85. I was shocked and disappointed. I thought it was me when I found out about a throttle detent. Maybe I wasn't pushing hard enough. I really stomped the next two trucks, Same result. My 14 had 14,000 miles so had loosened up compared to the new 6.2. Now I find that the 6.2 performs much better on premium fuel. Makes sense because the 5.3 performs so much better on high octane E 85. I need to drive a 6.2 with premium fuel.

Bottom line, the 6.2s performance compared to my 5.3 on E-85 didn't warrant trading. Maybe if the 6.2 trucks were broken in and running premium I would have been impressed, but I wasn't. I love my truck and drove away happier with it than ever after driving those 6.2s. That's just my experience, and I won't argue with anyone who wants to debate my personal experience. I will say that if I had to buy a new truck today I would opt for the 6.2 for the potential.

I guess that's a concern... if you are American. I'm not so it really means absolutely nothing. I don't go out looking to buy where it's made... although I don't mind buying double cabs that are not assembled in a third world country... even if it is a US company.

    • I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need.webcrimsNY
    • I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.
    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
