The GTs never had the 6.2, just the Raptor at the option of a supercharged 5.4 or a 6.2. I think even the Mustang Shelbys had the supercharged 5.4 and no 6.2. I could be wrong about all of that though. Like you I pay some attention to Ford and Dodge, but not much. I guess that's why when I tried being a car salesman I was only comfortable with trying to sell a GM, especially a Camaro, Corvette and mostly a Silverado.

 

 

The Shelby/GT500's has the supercharged 5.4L and then the 5.8 (which was just a bored out 5.4L). Those engines don't share anything with the 6.2L (DOHC car engine vs SOHC truck engine).

Hahaha, some of us loved our fords. My GT500 was an awesome car.

Even though I'm diehard GM. The only Ford I would consider would be a Mustang or the GT. I wouldn't consider a Ford truck. I would however consider a RAM if I needed a diesel just for towing and only towing. I will admit that ever since watching "Gone in 60 Seconds", the newer one with Cage in it, I wouldn't mind a '67 Shelby GT500.

Gone in 60 seconds got me hooked on the GT500's as well.

I have owned multiples of each, including foreign, probably 27 or so. They all have positives and negatives, but I am partial to GM. Next one more than likely a a GMC 2500HD.

I can't fault you for going to Ford. The last three trucks I've owned were Ford: a Ranger and two F-150's. Ford builds an excellent truck. I always liked the strong frame, heavy axles and over-sized springs on the F150. My F150s both had the 5.4L engine, which had plenty of power, and easily handled my 8,000 lb boat and trailer.

 

But like others have said, Ford has its own set of problems and issues, and if you get a truck that doesn't have any problems, it really is luck of the draw. Ultimately, I went to Chevrolet because I prefer GM's build quality, driving characteristics, and old-school pushrod V8 engines. I don't think I'll be disappointed. (And you probably won't be either)

I look forward to seeing what GM offers in the 2018's I know I'm wishing my life away......and I shouldn't at my age. ;) I really would like to have a GMC Sierra Denali in my drive along with my Corvette and Chevy small block 32 Ford. It's not like I'm having issues with my King Ranch (3.5l Ecoboost). It actually tows my enclosed car trailer really well (after I added Roadmaster Active Suspension to the rear). I like the looks of the GMC better, just not enough to give up the extras.

Well fellas, through all of this discussion, the only thing I can say, is that I'd rather push my Chevy or GMC then drive a Ford! I'm brand loyal, always have been and always will be. I like my GMs! IMO, I just think Fords feel cheap and never have liked the styling. Call me stupid, but I'm not changing!

I had only owned GM trucks until my basket case 14. I switched to RAM because they had the best deal at the time and it was the first model year of the new f150. Wasn't going to make that mistake again... So far the Ram has been okay. All that being said, I have only owned Ford cars. Thunderbirds to be exact. 3 of them. 74, 84, and 94. Just something about them I like. Just depends on preference and personal history I suppose.

in 2014 Dodge was forced to buyback half a million Rams in an unpredecented ruling. Dodge used yo be ok I guess but they are total shit now. Good luck with your fiat because that is what it actually is.

      I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need

      I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.

      Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
