So I’m definitely doing this mod. Purchased off of the same eBay seller that has surplus 2018 units that have been verified new. I just have to email WAM when their ordering opens up. I was hoping to ask my fellow forum members a few questions. First, when you guys go into the dealer for something, can we( and should we) put the old cluster back in to avoid any potential dealer issues?   Secondly, when I send the email to Chris, I know I have to give my vin, but do I need to list mods like Ltz tail lights, Dqs mirrors, heated steering wheel, and intellihaul front camera(maybe for camera)? I’m not sure, but I want to make sure. I hope this isn’t a totally stupid question. Ty guys.

On the first part, I kept my stock cluster in case I have anything happen that they would think of being electronically involved, like Infotainment problems, or something that could possibly point back at the cluster. I have left mine in for an oil change and a new headlight and they didn’t even notice. The techs are used to seeing the Denali dash so unless it’s related to the dash board or something of that nature, I’d leave it. Now if my Stabilitrac was giving me problems or my cruise control then I’d probably swap in the stick cluster. As for what Chris would need to know as far as your already completed Mods...I would PM @pgamboa and ask for his advise, he has a good working relationship with WAMS.

Cluster - I would keep stock for the same reasoned mentioned above.

Cluster programming - “Additional notes” should be things that would interface with the cluster.. things like Park Sensor, Seat Memory, HUD... and any other piece of hardware that needed programming.

Items like Head/Tail Lights, Heated Wheel, Mirrors, consoles... no. He won’t need to know that.

Has anybody with a 2017 purchased a new cluster and got 3 different part #s that would work or says replaced by *newer part #*??

I pinged Wams already(waiting for verification on the newer #) but wanted to check here to see if anyone got that newer part and had no issues (color, features, etc) I checked on here and saw someone mentioned the 84380242(but don't think I saw a follow up post with it installed), but Wams said that # is good to go as well.

They supersede P/Ns all the time for various different reasons.  Just buy one that WAMS shows on their list that will work for your 2017 and you'll be good.

Yeah, that was my concern in the various reasons the p/n supercedes the older p/n. I know WAMS confirmed the first 2 #s. Was just checking on the "latest" p/n. Either way, I'm getting one of those 3.. [emoji28]

Gotcha.  For it to supersede, it has to be a fully compatible replacement so the newest supersession should work.  If it didn't, things would be a s*** show.

Cluster has been sent to WAMS and super excited, but waiting patiently, to get it back. Such a  cool mod.  Thanks to companies like WAMS for giving us options for all kinds of mods.

Just a question for those that have done business  with Chris and Wams. Do they send you a notice and tracking number once they’ve receive and completed the reprogram? I know they’re busy, so do t want to send him too many emails. I figured I’d ask here first. Ty.

    • Even tougher is the 5.0 / 302. That's what this one has.    https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   https://postimg.cc/4n3F3yzY   Just realized I had the airbox removed in the engine pic, lol.
    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
