On my 2nd 5.3L 2014+ and while i would like a 6.2 i don't need it.... I still have that itch that i should have gotten it but in the end i much prefer the 5.3 since i dont want all the extra junk that comes with upgrading to the higher teir packages.

If i need something fast i will just wait until my Colorado is done and let er rippp

For a dd or a a truck that isn't mainly for "joy" I would personally choose the 5.3, a 6.2 is overkill and I would feel guilty for putting it through such a mundane life.

And I always use 91 anyways, I'm not cheaping out on fuel so it's not a factor when choosing engines.

I love my 5.3, does what is needed even hauled a 2500lb payload no issue. I only run e85 so the 6.2 is useless without a tune. Also i could not find the 6.2 in what i wanted used so 5.3 it was lol.

I've had 5.3l trucks since 01. Now I have a 6.2l. I have zero bad things to say about the 5.3l as an engine. The 6.2 to me is just a bigger, better version of the 5.3l. If there was one thing that I might gripe about it would be that I wish the stock exhaust on my 15 5.3l I had sounded as good as the stock exhaust on my 16 6.2l. Heck I drove my 15 over 2000 miles on vacation last summer all on the interstate, with 4 people and a bed crammed full of luggage, and I averaged 20 mpg round trip.

When Chevy boosted HP and TQ with the add of Direct Injection in 2014, I started reading up on the power and performance. 355HP/383TQ all down low really sold me (5.3L). I had a 2003 4.8L with 275HP/285TQ so this was a BIG step in the right direction. My High Country is well equipped which is a bonus too. Now, I just have to settle on an exhaust. Went too loud.

I really liked the 5.3's i have owned.

I'm now on my second 6.2, no comparison in power and the economy is better

It is a bit shocking what the 6.2 8spd will do on gas mileage. I have had a couple of people question the validity but I have hand calculated to check the DIC readout and the most differential I ever found was 1/2 mpg. On the Denali it keeps the average of all stopped and driving average speed so you can see that a lot of driving is actually city stop and go and lots of idling. The 420hp engine is amazing. Not ever going back to a smaller engine unless Killary or some of here friends force me too.....

I went through a similar debate after I bought mine. After going through the build and price online, I discovered that I could get an LTZ with a 6.2 for roughly the same MSRP as the LT with 5.3 that I bought.

I don't really kick myself too hard for it though. I drive it like an old man and rarely tow with it. My previous truck was an F150 with the 5.4 Triton, which in my opinion had plenty of power for a "small block" V8. It "only" had 305 hp and 350 lb ft of torque. The GM 5.3 with its 355 hp and 385 ft lbs torque feels pretty powerful in comparison.

Lastly, I got a killer deal on my truck. Other than the lack of having the biggest possible engine, it has everything I want.

If I ever feel the need for more power in the future, I'll go diesel. The 6.2 might have a lot of power, but it pales in comparison to the diesel's mountainous 900 lb ft of torque.

Had 2 Dodge/Cummins truck prior to this Chevy Silverado 1500.

My '04.5 Dodge/Cummins had the Smarty PoD, SouthBend Clutch, 50hp injectors, and a few other tweaks..............and she'd pull 20-22mpgs on the highway all day, pull your house off it's foundation, and still put down 383HP and 787ft.lb. on a middle of the road tune.

Yeah but your dodge didn't have all the power choking emissions crap that today's trucks have on em.

I got lucky and found a used 2014 with the 6.2. Wouldn't have purchased the truck without it, but good luck trying to find a used one. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while as they say...
