Pretty easy to do since its network use's Verizon's cellular service just drive around and you drop signal momentarily! but yes you can disable Onstar!

Onstar is now AT&T on the new vehicles with WiFi.

Verizon was the telematics provider I believe up until GMT900's so 2013, AT&T is the new provider. Verizon service was horrible. LOL no wonder I get better service with my 2016

No, OnStar switched to AT&T for the 2015 Model year and it is not all of the 2015 model year. If the vehicle has factory wifi, then it is on the AT&T 4g LTE system. - http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mobile-world-att-idUSBRE91O07520130225

I recall the reason for the switch is AT&T gave better pricing then what Verizon did and so much as far as coverage.

Coverage will be the same. AT&T & Verizion share the same towers in most places. They have the best coverage, no doubt about that. It's now a matter of pricing.

This isn't true. Verizon and ATT use different technologies. Verizon uses CDMA and ATT uses GSM.

Yeah but both companies systems can be on the same tower. He said :"share the same towers" not cellular systems.

agreed - however, same towers does not mean that "coverage will be the same" (which is also something he said), due to the difference in technologies.

Coverage IS the same. CDMA vs GSM has NOTHING to do with the range/coverage. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2407896,00.asp

The carriers use the same frequency spectrum, same power output from their towers, blah blah blah.
