HELP! Broken Connector behind Nav Screen

2014 Sierra 1500 SLT

Bought truck recently and trying to figure out why GPS won't connect & Nav has me positioned in Canada.

So after taking the screen out last night, I was at the dealer this morning for the seatbelt recall. So I showed the service manager the picture of the connectors behind my nav screen. It looks like I have a connector broken off. Dealer says can't be repaired (or at least they can't repair and have to replace whole harness by policy probably), whole harness would need to be replaced, upwards of couple thousand for whole new wiring harness & install. I'm thinking its likely that a new connector can be spliced in, but I don't know which plug I need to go to. I have attached an image of my dilemma below. If someone can confirm, then I suppose I'll go about tracking down a connector. If you know where to find said connector, even better!

Thanks!

Think those are Fakra II plugs and it would connect to the yellow receptacle.

Looks like ebay has quite a few connectors. Also looks like it will be a test in patience trying to get it assembled.

You may have good luck finding the connector on Pasternack. They are fairly easy to do if you are good with a soldering iron, the pin is usually a solder cup(most are solder connection but some use a 4 indent crimper, but even these you can solder). You just need to get the strip lengths right for both the conductor and shield as well as the jacket. Than to hold it all together you may need a hexed barrel crimper that crimps the shield and secures the connector. You may be able to get away with something else to crimp the barrel on. I do not recommend splicing a connector that has pigtail on it to the broken end it may pick up to much noise if you don't get the shielding right and to joint will cause resistance.

wire fell off. quick replace the whole unit.

wow I would find another service center asap that is just stupid.

It is not stupid, dealerships are not paid by the manufacture to make repairs like this to a harness. If the head-unit is defective they will want it replaced, if the harness is damaged and the connector is a part they can get they will replace the connector. If the connector is not available then they will suggest a wiring harness replacement. Standard protocol and has been for many years.

OP where is the other end of that connector at, were you able to find it? As said provided you can get the correct connector this should be an easy fix, provided there is enough room on that wire to make it to the connector on the head-unit. Worst case you may need to extend out the wire some.

no no telling a customer to spend thousands to fix a loose wire is about the single most stupid and insane thing I ever read on these forums.

Its so stupid it is asinine.

ps it looks like the previous owner disconnected this intentionally as one of those paranoid about GM / Onstar knowing the location.

Hey guys, maybe I wasn't clear in my original post. The connector is broken off (the hexagonal silver post, has coax inside) and is missing one of these fakra connectors. Gm won't men's any parts, only replace in entirety, so whole new harness vs putting on a new connector. I found a car audio shop that will put the new piece on since I don't have tools to fix that small of a crimp. I want to order the correct connector for the car audio shop to use. Still not sure which connector I need and what it should look like when complete

Anyone willing to pull their screen real quick and snap a shot of how it should look?

Then I would make sure to find a dealership that keeps an EE on staff. Hint, you wont find one. Only other option will be as the OP went, find an electronics repair shop and let them try and fix.

You can buy just the lead from GM and run the new one along side the original harness. I've fixed a few of them on the newer trucks. You can also buy the line for about a dollar a foot on Ebay, minus the plastic part of the connectors, and fix it your self.
