pgamboa Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) Does that just slide right over? Yes. Uses a clamp and bolt to secure. Some have used a tack weld to be a little more "secure" from theft. Link? This was an eBay purchase where he threw out a low bid an won the item. Edited January 30, 2017 by pgamboa
RHStansbury Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) @pgamboa is right on both counts. The tip just slides over the existing pipe and clamps on. All you need for the install is a deep 15mm socket. Link? Click here I was pretty shocked I didn't get outbid. Edited January 30, 2017 by RHStansbury
6.2Midnight Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I was pretty shocked I didn't get outbid. What's your name on eBay? Next time let me know when you are bidding on something, I'll counter your bid so you won't be shocked next time... LOL 6
Waymon Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Finally decided on a way to mount my phone. I used an old suction cup mount and cut it down to size. I wanted to do something with this spot. Here is before I got started Here is about half way through cutting down the base. Here is the finished product for mounting. I cut it down to where is fits very snugly in the slot. It's very sturdy. I will prolly cut it a little further and plasti dip the base as it squeaks ever so slightly over speed bumps and such. Then I started thinking about my apple car play feature. I really like using the maps on the head unit. So I graves my 10 foot cord and started mocking up how to accomplish getting it to the USB. Here is what I came up with. I noticed this hole in the back of the storage slot. I test fit the end of my cable and it fit. Next was to find out if I could access this hole. So I popped off the fuse panel. I grabbed a flat head screw driver an put the end in the hole and to my great surprise was able to locate it. This is the best pic I could get. I tried to get the shiniest part to show. I then snaked the end up to the hole. This was way easier than I thought it was going to be. Then I fed it through to the floor board. I fed it over the OBD2 connector Then fed it over these screws that attach the lower dash to the upper until I was in the passenger side floor board. Surprisingly I was able to hit the last screw and come up the under side of the glove box. It fits perfect and does not pinch on bit. Yet amazingly again it fit perfectly to the top storage door. I looped it around the top hinge and over to the USB. This fit so well I couldn't believe it. This is how much I left sticking out of the slot. I made sure to test this before I started feeding the cord. Once the mount is in it is just enough cord to plug into the phone and not protrude in the way. And the finished product with cord. It tucks so nicely into the mount until you need it. I love how it turned out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So about $22 for the cord and $20 for the mount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5
pgamboa Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 So about $22 for the cord and $20 for the mount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Nicely done. FYI - You can remove the USB connector from the glove box and plug your cable in from behind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Ravenkeeper Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Can of plastidip, some masking tape, and an hour ! Blacked out emblem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So about $22 for the cord and $20 for the mount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Can be done but doesn't always last. I'd highly recommend the plastidip. When I did my bow ties I had a few people ask if they were the factory black ones. $20 can versus $100+ bow ties... and it was easier to do. I'm looking at PlastiDipping my bowties, and still debating on doing my rims. Will I only need to clean the surfaces that I want to "dip" or do I need to rough it up? Waymon, where did you get your phone holder? How did you get it to stay in the pocket?
Ravenkeeper Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Spent a grand total of $4.82 on a cargo management system for the bed. What process did you use to install yours? I'm looking at doing two of these, definitely one, at 2x12.
