paint chrome? vinyl hard small area to work with. Maybe i will just spead $90 and go for the black logo

Can be done but doesn't always last. I'd highly recommend the plastidip. When I did my bow ties I had a few people ask if they were the factory black ones. $20 can versus $100+ bow ties... and it was easier to do.

+1 I did mine a year ago and still looks as good as the day I did it. Think I did 3 coats of black and 1 or 2 of glossifier.

Got a seat lay over for $28 from ebay. Doesn't fit the best but protects the seat from the car seats and toddlers spills.

I relocated my stock antenna this morning. Didn't lose any stations and to top it off it was FREE.

I also took some left over floating floor padding and used it to line my tool box. Yet another FREE mod.

I didn't relocate mine, I took the whip off and plugged the hole. I don't listen to AM/FM anyways, mostly MP3s and CDs, OR XM (when they are broadcasting for FREE.

Pics of magnetic phone holder?

I'm currently using one of these to hold my cell. Only problem I have with it, whenever I make a turn or a hard curve, my phone swings to the outside, turn left & phone/vent swing right, and vice verse.

Ya I did mine over a year ago and it was still looking good. I did about 3 coats as well without the glossifier. Noticed the tiniest of knicks in the front one the other day and decided to peel it all off and re-do it (I was bored and OCD about it looking perfect lol). This time I used 6 coats and no glossifier and looks even better.

I haven't listened to FM in years, been all SiriusXM for a long time.

So I took my antenna off the truck within the first week or two, where did you get the plug?

Thanks

I pulled one of the plastic ones from the bed.

My truck has covers over the oval holes down each side of the bed and the last hole (closest to the tailgate) is round with a rubber cover.....that's the one.

I got mine from Lowe's, Hillman 3/4" Nylon Hole Plugs - Black ($1.39 for 2-pack, at that time). I'm looking at modifying mine from the following link for 2 hidden antennas (forward and aft). As of now, my whip is removed and the hole is plugged, NO NEED TO CUT THE POST OFF.

Yeah I decided against cutting the stock antenna or getting a shorty as I never listen to FM.

The sole pro of having an antenna there that sticks above the Sirius/GPS Sharkfin on the roof is, it gives you a heads up as to whether you are going to clear an overhang.

But if you know the height of your truck you don't have to worry about it anyway.

I know there are some areas that may not have a posted low height, but if so, when in doubt, just don't drive under it.

It's ancient to have a metal rod antenna on a vehicle these days and it's annoying as it flops around in the wind as you drive in your peripheral.

So I'd rather just plug it.

I'll get one of the nylon plugs at Lowe's next time I go, thanks

I've read somewhere that Home Depot has them too, but I only found mine at Lowe's. As a "rule of thumb" for height, nothing lower than 8' for my truck itself, nothing less than 11' with my CB antenna up.

So I went to remove the antenna, mainly so I could rainx with nothing in my way... Well, it was a hard turner. Then all of a sudden it wasn't so hard to turn anymore...

So it looks like I'll be without an antenna for a few days until I can extract that stud from the antenna (if it's even worth it) and replace the stud.
