2017 Sierra 1500 SLT Premium Question about spots in the paint

Long story short drove a couple hours tonight to look at this truck didn't get there early as I wanted it was overcast there and raining around not good to look at a truck in my opinion but took it for a quick drive before they closed and parked it back in front of the dealership got out and noticed these spots

Anyone had these on a new truck or input is appreciated

Yes not too uncommon. Have them buff it out before buying.

With all these issues reported makes me nervous enough then see this the only reason I drove there to look at it was it is a 17 with over 10k off the sticker which makes you wonder a little with them offering that much the new model year this early. Sorry just thinking out loud but I really appreciate the comments and input

First pic looks like there was a scratch and it was wet sanded but never polished back out. Weird.

There is probably a spec of dirt in the middle of the spot. Have the dealer buff it out with compound, not polish. If they use polish, it will reappear after a few rainstorms/washes. Polish will fill in the imperfections, but the fillers will eventually wash away. Compounding it will fix the imperfections.

After a few weeks of owning my truck, I saw a couple spots like that appear. I buffed/compounded them out and they have not reappeared. The factory caused the marks in my truck. I had asked the dealer if ey buffed or waxed my truck and they said they only washed it prior to me picking it up. The factory used a harsh compound but then they should have use a less agressive compound/pad instead of a polish.

I had something similar on mine man. Check this out and try this for 1 dollar go to a family dollar or dollar general and look for a cleaner called ' Awesome '

Use that and a micro fiber cloth in the shade and work on the spots it should remove them as it did for me and I use it to clean off bug residue and a lot of other stuff and it's paint safe. Then go back over with a detailing spray.

Had a spot like that but was only seen in the sun, at the right angle. Took it back, and they took care of it.

I work for GM in the paint dept. The paint would have a had a spec of dirt in it, the inspectors finesse it with 2000 sand paper with an air tool. Then they buff (polish) it immediately after. With darker colours, you have to buff it a few seconds little longer. They just didn't buff it long enough. Take it back to the dealer they'll buff that up in seconds. It's not a big deal, and won't show up again after washing etc.

Actually you can blame the water based paints that the EPA forces the USA manufactures to use. My dad ran all of the maintenance crews for the GM plant here in OKC for 30 years, I've seen plenty of the processes in the plant. GM has been using robots to paint for at least 20 years, the robots are not the issue it is the paint that EPA forces everyone to use.

If it's the fault of the EPA, do all new vehicles have thin, easily chipped paint as well? Just curious, not trying to start any arguments or anything.
