We chased a random alarm issue for nearly a year in my Lacrosse that in the end was a dead cell in my new Walmart battery. Had it not been new I suppose we might have found that out a bit sooner or if I drove it more. Goofy thing locked us out at a carwash one Sunday while were wiping it down. Keys on the seat, along with my wallet and phone........

 

I've had pretty good service from Interstate batteries.

Check out "Hitch Safe" ----- snazzy. There's always the extra key in your pocket trick as well.

I had bad customer service and warranty denied from Interstate, I would never buy another one. The battery was a year old, we had the invoice for it, but because the little removable month and year deals weren't popped out to "date" the battery; they denied an in-warranty replacement and didn't even offer prorating it...and that was with an invoice showing when and where I bought the battery!

I try to support my local Deka plant, buy from their factory direct store...

My battery made it ~20 months. Shortest life I have had for any battery. With them back against the firewall, behind the coolant tank and above the exhaust, they just heatsoak, which shortens their life immensely in hotter climates. The one in my '06 Tundra was ten years old when I traded it in. It was right behind the headlight but there was a design feature to get air airflow to it while driving. My wife's '12 Charger still has its original battery, which is in the trunk.

I believe it is just like anything else. Make it as cheap as possible to make the most profit and it engineer it to wear out as the warranty expires so they can sell another.

my battery is getting bad now, 15 with 30,000 mi. just over 29mo. old. i have a 08 Harley with 35,000 on its original battery, sits in a cold garage all winter, put on a trickle charger in spring and its good to go all summer, i guess its luck of the draw if you get 2years or 10years.
