I still have the OE batteries from my 2004 Ram, both are still going strong (use them on a solar system currently).

I traded my 2004 Ram in 2010 with the factory battery too...I thought it was a factory fluke (super well made) battery.

While we are on this subject is the OEM battery AGM construction? When I have looked up what size battery my Sierra takes most manufacturers say 94R (or H7). I see that Diehard offers both AGM and non AGM versions of the 94R

I found that the more they are run, the longer they they last...that 2004 Dodge I had racked up around 50k miles per year. And now, these same batteries are charged every day via solar....

Last I heard, Walmart"s batteries were being made by Johnson Controls. The Walmart battery I have in my Yukon has three year replacement and 2 years prorated.

My 14 All Terrain is going on 3 years old and OE battery still going. 36k

I have had good luck with OEM Delco. Just Replaced one at six years and it was the bad starter with a dead spot! My '09s Delco went 5 1/2 yrs. Many factors affect the life of a battery. Also, you can get a lemon.

 

I recommend the Delco professional 42 month. It is 42 month full replacement, no proration, for about $127 around here. Delco makes a 30 month full replacement, no proration, one but only about $15 less than the 42.

My 99 GMC battery lasted 13 years and about 160 thousand miles. This is in Northern Canada and I also used a battery blanket on it below about 0.

AGM batteries can handle more vibration than the standard type of battery. Making it better for those that go off-road or for those that have the chevy shake.

 

Diehard Platinum (if you can find one to fit) is one of the best batteries out there. The only one better is an Odyssey, its expensive. And Odyssey makes the Diehard Platinum.

Just replaced my OEM battery after 2.5 yrs and 38K miles. Complained at the dealer and they split it with me. Replaced with OEM & cost me $106.00 installed with a free Oil change. I will say the electronics are more responsive now(bluetooth & Alarm), but I'm disappointed that I only got 38K out of the original.

Well Walt-mart definitely had the best deal going. Seems like the warmer the climate, the sooner the battery will die. My BMW battery lasted 7yrs and it was still "ok" according to BMW, but I ran the car for work out in BFE backwoods towns and didn't feel like having to jump or replace the battery when I was 2hrs from a Walmart and banjo music playing while I push start and dumped the clutch. BMW has the right setup. Battery in the trunk. Away from the heat and helps with weight distribution. GM did a good job on my wife's '15 Buick Enclave, battery is in the center floor, love it! My wife had a C300 which was a turd with a benz emblem and those D-bags put the battery under the hood. If I had seen that prior to buying it I would of walked away. No wonder Benz got in bed with Chrysler. The C300's battery under the hood which died 3 weeks after buying the car CPO, which they did not pay for either.... was an omen of how bad that car would be. Rant off. Buy the Wally $150 battery, keep your paperwork and move on in life. I'm not upset. I'm an OG Floridian my whole life and 2-3yrs on a battery is normal. My parents go through batteries every 2yrs in their small south FL town. I was surprised how expensive Napa was for the same battery with only a 1.5yr replacement period. $175 with the core. $25 more and half the warranty.

I've also lived in Tampa all my life, but I remember growing up that the batteries on my parent's GM trucks would last for years, even in the Florida heat.

I just replaced my battery under warranty. 2015 Sierra that I bought new September '15. Had about 23500 miles on it. My guess is since it was at the end of the model year when I bought it it had been sitting for a looooong time and that killed the battery. Same thing happened with my last vehicle which I also bought at the end of the model year. Probably had to get jumped a number of times while on the lot by the lot jockeys.

      Late reply, but yes—it works on the SLT trim. Compatibility comes down to the plastic shroud shape behind your mirror, not the trim badge itself. On the SLT with auto-dimming, it uses a plug-and-play Y-harness off the mirror/rain sensor power, so no need to run wires down to the OBD port. If anyone's ever unsure about fitment, just drop a photo of your mirror housing and we can double-check it.   Appreciate the detailed feedback on the install! On the windshield glare—we actually took feedback like yours and developed a dedicated CPL (polarizer) filter to cut down dash reflections on sunny days. If you're still running the cam, shoot me a DM. I'd be happy to send a CPL filter over for you to test out—no charge.

      After I wrote that reply I went for a ride. 85 F out. So trans started at 85 F and it shifted the same as it did an hour latter at 168 F. I've never actually recorded the to cold to shift point but it is under 32 F before they start hanging on to a lower gear or leaving the converter unlocked. Both intended to heat fluid.    Yes, brake or bake. Absolutely.      Your welcome. True research ended decades ago. Field trials are still in play.    There is a thing called oxidation onset temperature. This is the heat related oxidation not the O2 exposure kind. For mineral oil that starts at 140 F. So what happens after 140 F? Each 20 F cuts fluid life in half! Does using a Full Synthetic improve that? Yes! By how much? Depends on the base oil type and a few other factors. But enough to notice. Some esters are even higher. There are even synergies between types the will raise it higher than any one component is alone.    Then there is "Hindered" oils. Antioxidant additives. Hindered Polyol Esters can sit at 500 F for years in a turbine.   When a blender brags his oil will 'take 500 F" in service he doesn't specify for how long. Water will dance on a 500 F hot plate for several seconds. @newdude put up a chart showing the relationship between fluid temperature and it's life in an automatic transmission. Here's a version of that chart for Group III based oils. These temperatures are those in the pan as observed as 'normal'. that is you drive as you do for as long as you do under what load you ask of it and whatever that temperature is this graph applies to. Flash temperatures of a few minutes isn't what his means.    Note that fluids held at a constant 240 F have a service life of only 20K miles. 220 F explains the factory exchange limit, eh? My equipment I keep under 180 F and I'm good if the cooler will hold it as low as 140 F. But that's me.
