Truck Storage

I just wish that the companies like Du-Ha, Husky or OEM's would make some options that would only go 2/3 of the way across for people like me that have a Kicker Soundgate. I know one of the forum members took one and cut it up themselves and was able to custom fit, but I am not hands on enough to do that myself. Currently I am just using a plastic bin to put my stuff in but it just takes up to much room and looks like cr@p. :)

Just my opinion.

Do you have the dimensions of the box you used or a link to which one you got?

Thanks!

I'd also Ike to know this. Would love to see a pic of this setup if you have one!

what happens if you regularly tow a work trailer and would need a place for all your tools?

This is one of the reasons very few work trailers are gooseneck, atleast in the construction trades your bed is always full of material or tools or small equipment.

The husky and and du ha or oem would VERY easily be modified in this manor, could be cut with a jigsaw or reciprocating saw or even a hand saw fairly easily and quickly.

I just installed the Undercover Swing case. Loaded with jumper cables, tie downs, bug spray, and a few tools. It still has room to spare. So far very pleased with my Christmas present.

How much does one of those run you? Curious because I'd have to get 2 for the symmetry of it.... lol.

I believe it was around $160 through RealTruck.com at the time, but that was the Christmas pricing.

I really like the idea of that decked storage locker. Seems like a fairly secure and solid idea and has a fairly large load rating up top.

That said, it seems like the drawers aren't that long and you lose so much space. There are other options on the market as well but in general they cost a ton and you are losing a fair amount of space because of the moving parts for the drawer.

Personally, I'm going to go with a Diamondback truck cover. They are pretty solid, easy enough to remove when you need the truck bed and allow for secure storage of my firearms when traveling or the like. Plus you don't lose any bed space.

Pretty expensive option though and if I didn't have the need to secure firearms I prob wouldn't but last thing you want to worry about is some **** snagging 3k worth of firearms out of your truck while you're in the gas station grabbing a soda or something.

I have a double cab....and have the HUSKY rear seat under storage.....it has all my tools and stuff.....and hopefully wouldn't bounce around as much as a toolbox in the unfortunate event of a rollover.

Only tough part is if there is anything on top of the rear seat you have to move it to access any of your tools.

I said the same thing. But ended up getting one anyway (used for $100 locally). Used a dremel and it was a breeze to cut.

Unfortunately I can't get an under seat storage setup because I have three car seats in the back seat lol.

I need something for the bed. I may look into the swing boxes. They seem like a pretty good option

I have 2 Plano power tool storage tool boxes that I got from Menards that I keep under my back seat. I spent quite some time buying and returning tool boxes until I found these that mostly fit under the rear seat of my crew cab. Best thing is if I need the room I can just throw them in the bed and not worry about them sense they are sealed. I keep one for tie downs, jumper cables, and tow strap. And the other has road side emergency items such as gloves, first aid kit, flash light, batteries and items such as that. They are not very big but perfect for what I need.

I picked one up and I cant figure out how you fit this under that back seat. Mine does not fit at all. Do you have a picture of yours under the seat?

I'll get a picture of it however now that I have the floor liner it doesn't fit at all like it used to. Prior to the liner it stuck out like an inch from the seat however it never got in the way of the passengers.

    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
    • Hello Guys I'm new to the form,         I just put a 7-inch Rough Country lift on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 and I also put a Borla exhaust on it. But I noticed when I'm in park or in neutral and then I rev my truck up really quick there is a bad click noise and I think it's coming from the motor somewhere. Anyways I got a video of it I will attach below I was just wondering if you guys think its rod knock or lifter tick or something like that because I know the AFM kind of made the lifters weak on these trucks.       Thanks!!!!!
