I had one in my old truck.. it came with the conversion package.. it was a power sliding window and it broke so you could just take your hand and slide the window back.. easy access for thiefs.. i ended up replacing it.. i liked it though.. on cool days you could open it and let the breeze flow :withstupid:

I had one on an a past truck but it was a single cab. It did provide easy access to the bed of the truck from the cab, but I can't see the usefulness of it on an ext cab. If you want the wind blowing through the cab you can roll down the front windows and pop the ex cab windows out- that's what I do anyway!

I think it would just provide another access point for theives! Just my .02! :D

I had one on my extended cab F-150. They look cool and functional, but are pretty worthless. Especially in extended cabs (as has already been stated) because their a PITA to reach back and open.

I don't know how the locking mechanism works for the Chevy design, but Fords was a simple plastic arm that held the doors closed. It was weak enough to push apart and clip if required.

Besides, having that break in the rear window sucks to look at through the rear-view mirror.

I have a power sliding rear window in my truck. It is awesome. They are usually made by DL Laurence. I got mine when I ordered my truck, so it was dealer installed. I wouldn't have a truck with out it.

EVERY new truck Ive ever bought has had a sliding rear window EXCEPT the 03 2500HD 4x4 we have now. It would have one too except they arent available anymore :D

Generally speaking, they are pretty useless, BUT put a fiberglass topper on there, an inflatable boot between the topper and the cab, and start across the country. THEN tell me how much you like it! I put 3 2x4's across the top of the bedrail and then cover it with a sheet of plywood. On top of this I put 2 pieces of eggshell foam, a wool blanket and then my sleeping bag. By doing this, Ive got a VERY comfortable bed to grab some shuteye in while someone else drives. When not in use as a bed, it make s a great place to store all the junk that would normally be in the cab with us such as coats, binocs, video camera, snacks, pillows, maps, etc...

IN my old ford that I had I used it all the time. Throw the dogs in the super cab open up the window and walla the dogs have got some extra air. I didn't have side windows in the ford it was a 93. In my new one I don't have one but If I was going to put one in it would have to be an electric slider...

Not sure what theives would steal out of my truck?? Factory stereo? I lock all the valuables (digi camera) in the center console.

I would defanately get one........

The rear slider that came on the new 99 silverado did not work out. They cracked. Than GM used a replacement aluminum one and it worked. Now for the good part. GM offered me 50.00 cash and the instillation of a regular rear window in my 99. I said no thank you and took the aluminum one. Thae reason the plastic cracked is because of body flex on the new style trucks. That was directly told to me by a GM zone rep.
