Allison swap

Hi

I need some technical help! I have an 03 GMC with 8.1 and need a trans rebuilt due to overheating while towing. I found a good used trans from an 05 Dmax with 32K on it. I need to know if anyone has done a swap and if the electronic side will work with the gas verse's the diesel. I know the diesels are set up a different but know one knows for sure what is exactly different. I don't want to make a $1,500 dice roll and have to do this twice. Thanks for any feed back.

If you can get me the 10 digit Allison s/n off each unit I can look them up and tell you if they are the same. They should be the same.

 

The bigger issue will be the cal on the transmission tcm, it will be different. Re-cal'ing the tcm is not something that is easily done, especially the light truck chevy ones.
