New to trucks pls inform me if possible. I thought Sierra and Silverados were pretty much the same except exterior. Was I wrong there? Just curious now.

My dad used to say a GMC is a Chevrolet with lock washers.

I've heard from guys that used to build them at GM's Janesville plant that the GMC's usually got better/heavier parts. These days they're the same truck mechanically. The interior and body panels are the primary difference these days.

I dont know why people think there differant trucks, there not. Silverado's and GMC's get the same parts and are made on the same production line only thing is different is the cosmetics, they don't get better parts etc.

Thanks for the info. Also researched since post. Seems like up to personal choice between the two. Drivetrain and engine spec looks the same. Gmc more for the older folks luxury look and Silverado for tough young look. I am pretty old but went with Chevy. Not impressed by the truck but by no mean regretting the purchase.

Same drivetrain, same interior, came from the same plants, built buy the same people, same vibration, same crappy parts break, same recalls.

The only difference is the GMCs have real aluminum overlays on the

interior trim and the Chevy gets aluminum color plastic.

What's your problem? Everything I said was a fact. Yell at the guy that falsely said GMCs get Heavy duty parts.

I haven't heard of the GMC shake myself so I think you're making stuff up there. Also there are different recalls for the GMC and the Chevy, they rarely overlap which also points to your "facts" being BS.

Plus no Chevy has the Magneride that the OP got... not all the same options either.

Ok keep thinking that. I work on these all day everyday so I guess I don't know what I'm talking about. That Gmc I replaced 4 tires on for a vibration last night Must have been made up by the customer.

No problem..well if you work on them of course you are going to only see the ones that do have problems. Mine has none of those problems, nor do anyone I have talked to with these trucks. I have only read about them on here. So I'm sure there are WAY more trucks without problems then with.

GMC just seems better put together to me. It may just be my trucks but all the Silverados I have as work trucks seem to squeak and rattle in the interior compared to the GMC's (07-13). I like how they are starting to differentiate more between brands. I appreciate the aluminum trim, flare/liners and standard bed lighting. Never had the rattles or funkin trans hiccups in my 15GMC like others have experienced.

Gee guys didn't mean to start a Sierra Silverado war. Just hope the new truck is as good as the last.

Yes, there shouldn't be any rivalry between GMC and Chevrolet truck owners! I know there are reasons to run both names but It isn't for differing qualities. Ford use to also run the Mercury line of trucks and the same arguments occurred!
