2016 Silverado 1500 first oil change

I'm ready to Change the oil in my truck. I'm either going with pennzoil ultra Platinum in the black bottle or mobil1 full synthetic 0w-20. I've read and found the AcDelco oil filter to be good or should I match it with mobil1 if I go that route?

M1 filter would be a bit better - filters finer and has synthetic media.......... Nothing wrong with GM Dexos1 full synthetic oil either - that's what the dealer will use if you go in for your "free" oil changes...........

Good question. I did my first oil change at 5k and I used all factory parts. AC delco 0w-20 and AC delco filter. I wanted to go the route of me doing the 5k then the dealer doing the 10k so on and so on.

I use amsoil signature serious. Oil and filter. My buddy is a dealer so pretty good price. And oil life on it is great

Mobil 1 0w-20. I just pay the difference between the dealer AC-Delco to step up to the full synthetic on the "free oil changes" that come with the new trucks.

I switched over to Pennzoil Platinum. Have no reason to not like it. It's cheaper, Pennzoil has run some good rebates on it this past year. It's Dexos 1 approved and the engines purr like a kitten on it. My '89 K5 got very quiet after I started running PP in it, that's what really sold me on it. Could not believe how well my K5 liked the PP. Filters, I used up all the AC PF63's I could find locally that were non-Ecore. Then I started using M1's. Currently on a WIX/Napa Gold. For half the cost of the M1, and it's a bit longer, I had to try one. It has a dome end bypass like the PF63 and M1's. I'll be cutting it open in about a month. I ran a P1 on my 3rd oil change IIRC and after cutting it open that was the first and last P1 for my truck. The media was coming unglued from the end caps, I did a thread on here about it few years ago. 10yrs ago a P1 was top notch, not anymore. If the Wix looks good when I cut it open, I'll stick with them on my truck and wife's Buick which also calls for a PF63.

Does he twist your arm and leg and penis to get you to purchase the stuff???

Either oil will serve well. As for the filter, the PF63 can still be found on eBay. The PF63E isn't a bad filter for 5k mile oil changes.

Mobil 1 exclusively since the first 1K oil/filter change. Don't even use the dealer's free changes because they use a Dexos blend not straight synthetic and and a PF63E. Won't use that crapo "environmentally friendly E version" PF63E with its plastic construction and fiber relief valve instead of the PF63 with steel construction, springs and valves.

Luckily my Walmart seems to have an endless supply of the older PF63s, had to pickup another other dozen for the '17 Impala, luckily the 5.3s and 3.6s use the same filter.

I just pay the difference at the dealer and get full synthetic, I have always been a Mobil 1 guy and thats what i'll run after the "free" oil changes are over, might as well save some money at the start. My dealer has also told me there full synthetic oil is Mobil 1 but don't know weather to trust them or not.
