Headlight dimming/blinking/flickering

So last month pulling into my driveway seeing my headlights on the garage door it looked like the headlights were flickering. Since I've noticed when hitting the brakes the interior dash lights dim with the headlights, and there is a audible click. My volt gauge is vertical and never noticed it move much. I know batteries usually last about 5 years and mine is about 3. I did notice once over a year ago while starting it flashed a message saying low voltage, not sure if that's related. This problem seems somewhat intermittent because I didn't notice it for a few weeks..

Hate to say this, nothing say a battery last 5 years. You will be lucky to get 3 years out of the OEM batteries these days. The low voltage message indicates there is a issue with the charge on the battery. I would start with the battery and have it tested as it is the usual weakest link in the system.

I appreciate the reply. My assumption on batteries was driving a tow truck for a few years. It seemed in the early to mid 2000's the batteries lasted between 5-7 years. The worst were the side post batteries as a post would come loose from the battery.
