Need pricing opinions on NEW 2017 GMC Regular Cab Short Box SLE 2wd Tr

Hi guys, thanks for taking a look at my post. I'm looking for some advice on buying a new Regular Cab Short Box (RCSB) GMC SLE pickup.

I just got out of a nightmare 2015 Silverado blackout edition that kept having whining rear differentials and squeaky springs.

To make a long story short, I test drove Ram and Ford's and I'm back to GM again (maybe I'm a glutton for punishment).

 

I have an opportunity to buy a RCSB GMC SLE 2wd truck that has a MSRP of $41k for $31k. What are you guys paying for these trucks in this configuration? It bothers me that I can get a crew cab cheaper than this regular cab, but at the same time I don't like the looks of anything but a RCSB truck.

 

Should I jump on this deal or should I wait until maybe memorial day weekend or further into summer? I'm not in a big rush as I have another truck to use in the meantime, but my daily driver truck is gone It just seems almost impossible to get a deal on a truck like I'm looking for. I just want to know if you guys think I should be doing better on the price.

Find a truck in their inventory that is similarly equipped and you will know what the bottom dollar will be.

As for waiting for later in the year for a better deal (rebates), that is a decision you need to make based on your current need for a new truck, how long you keep a truck before trading it, etc. If you keep one like I do, buying mid to late summer when the rebates are the highest is the time to buy. If you trade every 2 or 3 years, you are better off buying the truck when that year model is first released.

mudkatt, thanks for your input. If waiting until mid summer is only going to net me another thousand off, I may bite now so that I can enjoy the truck this spring and into early summer. Do you think I would see more than another thousand if I waited? Another thing I don't like is trucks that sit a long time on the lot. If there's something that was manufactured in Jan or Feb, I'd rather have it now than to sit for 7 months while the brakes get rusty, the tires get flat spots, the sun beats on an untreated paintjob and the guys wash the truck more and more with dirty rags..... Maybe I should pull the trigger now that I'm thinking things through. The one thing I'm not sure if I like on this truck is that it has a factory applied spray on bedliner. I can't find any reviews of what guys think about them. I've usually been a bedrug guy.

MSRP or Purchase price? That sounds pretty cheap for MSRP. This truck I'm looking at is over 10k more than that on the window sticker.

It was a base double cab Custom. Only option was Z82. So probably closer to 33K or so. Purchase price was around 27K-ish. Just Trucar or use a similar "this is what it's worth given local supply and demand" service and see what it gives you.

It's fully loaded minus the lane departure stuff. It has the 5.3L, tow package, 20" wheels, convenience package (led fogs, remote start, 8" radio, power seat, full instrument cluster, rear defrost, etc). It even has the factory spray-in bedliner. It's pretty well loaded I'd say. For a regular cab anyways.

Sounds like a deeply discounted sweeeet deal....... However reg cabs don't come in 5' 8" short box - has to be a standard bed at 6' 8"...........

 

Factory bed liners look great with the emblem on the front. Slightly thinner than Line-X.

 

What colors inside and out? Leather?

Funnest configuration in the GM line up to drive. If you like the truck and the price, buy it. Rumors are they might stop making them.

Hirdlej around here RCSB trucks are not as deeply discounted as Texas Edition Double Cab and Crew Cab trucks. IMO you are getting a good deal and would not hesitate to pull the trigger and buy the truck. If you wait longer you might save a grand or so more but I doubt that particular truck will be available that long. When I traded my 14 AT for the 15 AT I could've probably saved another 1 or 2 grand had I waited until end of summer. However I would have bought a 16 Chevy LTZ Z71 CCSB since they changed the front which I prefer to the GMC and ended up paying more. In the end I don't regret getting the 15 AT and if I were to trade/sell would buy another with a 6.2 or a RCSB LT Z71 Chevy with the 5.3 engine. I'm a sucker for the monochrome and love the color matched Victory Red trucks. Good luck and post pics of the new truck.

I'd say take the jump. My 2016 RCSB had a sticker price of around 42k discounted to around 32k. I didn't put one penny down so with all the fees and financing costs I'll be paying 36k for it. Mine is pretty much loaded, only thing missing is 4x4, lane departure, and front and rear sensors.

$31K, at a $10K discount from MSRP for a loaded 2016 RCSB sounds like a pretty good deal. When I bought my 2014 Chevy LT RCSB my dealer had to go out of state to find one equipped like I wanted. There just don't seem to be that many RCSBs sitting on dealer lots, and I don't see many RCSB's (other than work trucks) around town.
