Stock GoodYears chewed up at 1.5k

Has anyone else noticed their stock goodyear tires are "chewed up"? I'm missing a few chunks of tread on my fronts of all tires. I've got 1500 miles on the Stock 2017 Z71 tires. I emailed goodyear (waiting on response) and contact the salesman who said he'd look into either a warranty or "pro-rated" replacement on the fronts. How annoying..........

Dis you road force & align the truck yet? That is the starting point. Tire wear is the symptom, not the cause.

Got nearly 20k on my stock good years and they are wearing just fine even though I kinda wish they wouldn't so I could get some bigger and more aggressive tires.

Do you drive gravel roads. I heard it straight from Goodyear when I was still running my stock skins and getting my second punctured patched within the first six months of owning my truck that these tires were not designed for gravel roads and will get chewed up.

 

As I was getting my patch work done the rep asked if I drove grid roads - Yup - See you next month

27K on mine, the fronts have some small chunks missing. I don't off road but guilty of hitting a curb once in a while, I'm old, what can I say.

In all my years of driving pickups; I've never, ever had good luck with Goodyear tires. The old joke still remains............."They last as long as their name." Good for a year.

 

I love Cooper tires................have had excellent results with them. Michelin ($$$$) and Bridgestone have been good for me also.

I've got 29,000+ on my Goodyear and tread wear is about 50%. I drive mostly highway, but do live off a oil and chip (slag chips) road. The oil and chip road chews through tires. The wife's terrain got 25,000 out of a set of hankooks compared to 50K on the factory Michelins. Overall I'm happy with the Goodyear and I'm not a Goodyear fan.

Got in touch with the dealership. They said that my front tires "froze" to the ground and that the missing chunks were due to moving the truck while said tires were frozen. Not sure that I do or don't buy that but it's annoying just the same. Goodyear got back to me - suggested I go to an authorized goodyear dealer to have them look at the tires. Dunno if its' worth it or not......

Hahahaa....must have the "fair weather only" RPO code in your glove box.

I'd use this as an opportunity to upgrade tires for a discount. See if they will knock some off the price of a different brand/tire for you.

I just started airing up my tires to 40 PSI rather than the suggested 32 PSI to preserve them for longer, the max on the Goodyear is 44 PSI so it gives me wiggle room, hoping it helps as I'm not a huge fan of Goodyear but don't feel like swapping out brand new tires.

S-RA is the Egyptian code for useless. I wouldn't put a passenger in my vehicle with those tires - too risky.

 

Goodyear makes good tires, but these are not on any level close to being fair.

Just find a tire shop that takes trades

I got $120 ea for my LS2's trading on Michelins, basically $400 to trade up to much better tires
