Everyone look what I found

That's crazy. I didn't see anything on the carfax about a buyback or anything. That does suck for the new owner.

I was just reading the Carfax... Unbelievable

https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=DLR_3&vin=3GCUKREC4FG116888

This vehicle had lots of transmission problems. But it was actually bought back for frame damage. Yes, frame damage. The truck was leaning, dealer could not fix it, I took it to an independent frame shop who found a bent frame bracket; that was an integral part of the frame; causing the vehicle to lean, once I showed the frame shop report to the dealer and showed them the frame bracket that the independent shop found, there was no denying it. The dealer actually printed me out a service ticket that said " frame damage was found cuasing the lean and customer would talk to GM DMA about repurchase/buyback". Long story short.

The car fax says nothing about the frame.

It does mention numerous transmission services BS. Even if they fixed the frame they should mention that it had problems. And mention it was a buyback. But I garenty that transmission is still messed up. And I could swear I still see it leaning in the picture, so I doubt anything was done at all to it. Just recockulous!!!

I'm going to call Carfax about this next week, that's unacceptable. No one should buy this truck without knowing it's true history first.

On my car fax report it only shows a small percentage of the trips that truck was at the dealer. Come to think of it rather buy a used truck with nothing on the car fax rather then one showing all these false maintenance trips.

This come to show car fax is just a glorified record keeper that gets feed false information to give that false piece of mind to the next owner.

If these trucks are unrepairable they should be crushed not resold. Lets hope no one gets killed because of it.

Carfax.....schmarfax......People talk about it like it is the overall prognosticator of a vehicle's past history and predicted reliability.

Really think they will take action based upon a callers complaint, which by doing so might alert the industry that their current methodology and "research" source(s) are sometimes faulty, and this vehicle they essentially certified by omission is essentially a reworked lemon? Just a hunch but my opinion is your shoe would be a more receptive listener.

My wife's Trailblazer was "T boned" by an uninsured motorist in the Peoples Republic of MD jumping a stop sign and turned into a piece of crap with frame damage. Lucky for us we always purchase vehicles outright and had maximum insurance coverage as advised by the insurance rep for that area in the PRMD. Had the wreck dragged to a GM dealer with their own body shop and since I owned the vehicle, picked up the insurance check made out only to me for the value of the damage, minus deductible, within 48 hours......walked into the showroom while the Traily was still bleeding on the lot told them I wanted full trade value in excellent condition (to be restored after their repairs) against a new Avy in return for the check and balance of payment. Taillights down the road within 48 hours and once repaired, this one owner low mileage "creampuff" never showed up as a reconstructed wreck on Carfax.

Unfortunately GM operates like the small buy here/pay here car dealers.

Buy a Cobalt at auction for 1k. Sell it on their lot for 4k, but make you put the 1k down payment down. Car is then paid for. New owner defaults on their loan, because of crappy credit/poor financial choices, and car is repo'd. Car is then put for sale again on that same lot and gets the next buyer. That's how they make their money and stay in business.

Buying a used vehicle has always been a gamble. Tools like Carfax help but are not perfect. You need to inspect a potential purchase thoroughly and pay based on its current condition. If I, or my mechanic, determines that a potential used car purchase shakes or drives poorly then I will look elsewhere. Knowing a car has received significant damage or was a buyback should be disclosed by law and should be reflected in the price. I remember buying a new '85 Suburban that had significant hail damage. It looked horrible but it was one way I could afford a family truckster! In this example the damage was obvious but perhaps there are others who would like the opportunity to be in a newer vehicle at a price reflective of a re-build or a buy back.

what was I thinking? I thought 4wd worked in sand and mud etc, and was thinking there were farms down south. Thanks for the update.

I was born in Alabama, and raised in the cow and phosphate mine country of rural central Florida, with ancestors who settled that state as early as 1810. I know all about sand and farms and rural life down south. Yes, 4x4 helps when you're up to the windows in mud anywhere, I was just referring to the fact that, for the normal suburbanite/someone who doesn't use their truck in an extremely muddy environment such as a ranch, mine, or similar line of work, there's no need. The normal roads are never not at least a decent traction driving situation, even in the thunderstorm capital of the world that is Polk County, FL.

Desperate types with "damaged" credit and limited "financial resources" will glom on to pretty much anything they can drive home. Car dealers feed on this. The shabbily dressed and a bit "off" buyer stepping onto a used car lot doesn't stand a chance.

I just talked to a person I met at one of the many trips to the dealer that was trying to fix my truck. I told him what happend to my old truck that its for sale and he was shocked.

He decided to do a search on his vin. Guess what its for sale also. His car fax says lemon/ buy back. This is freaking crazy.

Never thought about how sketchy it really is to buy a pre-owned vehicle. Might be a lot cheaper in the long run to buy brand new.

I have never bought used. But buying new look what I went thru. So it all goes down to what you get. If your lucky you get new and live happily ever after.

The crazy thing is that I think my new truck shakes also.

Thanks for the update.
