Sweet truck MYFAV. I'm from SW VA and have a cabin in Gatlinburg and get close to 24-25 on the trip, very surprised. I'm in a 2016 denali. I was getting 18 HWY with my 15 4runner. Love this truck, btw how did you get your blue led around the speedometer? Mine are red. Black truck.

Thanks lazybear I am really enjoying this one to the max. I think that all the unmodified trucks are pretty much capable of mid 20's mpg when driven carefully. I was a bit surprised to see that blue dash background color too. Apparently all the Sierras went to the blue background color for 2017 (frown) but it works well with this exterior color so I am not too upset at seeing the Chevy color LOL. I got to go find me a couple of exhaust threads now (exh fever) so I can check out all the options again and again and again. Probably going to order a GM Borla tomorrow haha.

That being said, I live in Roanoke. Just about the entire trip is 81/40, maybe 35 miles on 321. So just about all but 35 miles in on cruise/2wd. I was thinking on exhaust for more mileage but don't want it too loud..

Your truck has a built in training device, set the display to the 25 mile range mileage setting and start practicing on what driving style gets good mileage. You will greatly improve the mpg. Your blasting away from the redlight and squealing tires and then stomping down on the brakes HAS TO STOP LOL

That takes all the fun out of driving. Might as well buy a Prius if I have to drive like that.

My average according to the dash is about 20MPG since I bought the truck new, it has about 12000 miles on it now. That is remote starting, lots of idling, pulling trailers for about 2000 miles, driving it like it was stolen, driving it like grandpa, sitting in traffic, etc.

Guy don't even get me started on prius. Always in the left lane holding traffic up..

I know! LOL! And they have that look on their face as if they're doing nothing wrong too!

That look on their face is from the excitement of going from 0-50 MPH in 53.2 seconds!!!!!!

The gas mileage is great for sure, but these trucks excell at other things as well. The ride quality is like a cadillac and for me there's more than enough power. Good job GM!

LOL!! Also, I believe that they're in their "Hyper-Mileing" mode when they're doing that...trying to beat their all time high mpg every time!

Life is to short to waste your time hypermiling. I purposely try to get the WORST gas mileage that I can. I promise my way is more fun lol

I've been super impressed with mine too! Especially after I started running 91 octane in my 6.2L!

Here's some numbers after a trip this am;

For USians 9.4 liters per 100km works out to 25.1 mpg US or about 30.2 mpg Cdn.

Traffic was too heavy to really drive for ecomony, but I maintained momentum where I could and my speeds varied between 65 and 75 mph.

I think on a longer hwy trip with light traffic I might be able to get a running average as high as 32-33 mpg cdn, or roughly 26.5 to 27.5 mpg US.

For normal driving, which includes a bit of city and the rest hwy, my average seems to typically be in the 10.5 to 11.5 range, which is roughly 20.5 to 22.5 mpg US or 24.5 to 27 mpg cdn.

That's a significant jump from my 06 which would get about 26 to 26.5 mpg cdn on it's best day(hwy trip). The 2017 is basically a modern version of the 06 with the same size engine(5.3), same rear end (3.42), roughly similar option pkg. & same body config.(double cab/ext cab) The 17 has a 6 speed trans. That's probably about as close to apples & apples as can be had.

That being said, I haven't verified it against a manually calculated fill up yet. Even if the DIC is 1 or 2 mpg optimistic, it's still a good result.

So far I'm quite impressed with this truck; ride, power, drivability, economy, comfort, build quality etc.
