No problem.  I have been asked to make a retrofit inline harness so that 16/17 owners can simply plug and play into the new module.  I think I'll have everything needed to make this happen.

If you end up making these please let me know as I’m interested in getting one. You can feel free to drop me an email at [email protected] and I can PayPal you whatever you are going to charge. Thank you!!

I'm swapping modules in my cadillac ATS. Due to where the module is mounted,  I do not have enough room to pull the pins on the old and re-pin to the new connector.  In the very least, I'm interested in the part number of the female version of the old style connector so I can make my own.  IF you have found what that part number would be, that would be great info!  I have ordered my replacement module.  I'm interested in the harness thought too...

[email protected] is the most efficient way to reach me,

Thanks

The process of removing the inner piece from the video isn't exactly right. The real problem is the tiny magnet in the center. In the two part video the guy fails to mention in the first part he left it in, in the second he removed it. I left the sticky other piece attached and ONLY removed the tiny silver magnet in the center and it works perfect with an iPhone X.  Attached some pics.

with leaving the green coil in, does your phone begin charging again after you pick it up and put it back without having to shut the vehicle off and start it again?

Yes. Zero issues.

***UPDATE*** I would have had some connectors/terminals, but this gal decided to ruin the fun.

Have RING video of this girl taking the package 15 minutes after being dropped off. Was in the middle of a FANTASTIC dinner that my wife made so didn’t sweat the $50 of connectors/terminals that was in the package. But I guess I need to reorder this stuff.

Unfortunately, this didnt work for me. I put the green coil back in and tried it.  It behaves the same way.  It will charge when I put the phone on and it will charge until I remove the phone. it will not begin charging again until I power cycle the car. weird.

She's going to be mad when she opens the box and discovers its just random connectors and terminals!

Yup! Bad thing is it’ll get thrown in the trash. SMH. She’s been blasted all over Social Media. She’s apparently selling “magazine subscriptions”. Guess I’m back on reordering.

Thanks so much for posting this information--very helpful!  I do have a questions.  You mentioned that the new charger module uses the same 3 wires as the old one.  Are those 3 wires used in the same place and in the same order on the new module?

So I received part number 571-2035363-4 from Mouser Electronics today - the plug is the same exact plug that is in the 2016/17 vehicle now?  How is this going to connect to the new module - if we ever get it - on backorder with no ESD in sight???  Are you sure you gave us the correct part number?

No. It uses the same 3 wires but the actual plug is different for the 2018 module than in previous year modules. Look back through this message and see the photos user Pgamboa posted of the different plugs for the different years.  I believe it is around page 10.

I realize that it uses the same 3 wires - however, the part number he listed for the connector (571-2035363-4) is the same connector that is used for the 2016/2017 modules - not the one for the 2018 module.  I need the part number for the 2018 module.  And I don't have a "page 10" so if you can repost that thread I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

I just checked my order for mouser. That part number is the correct connector for the 2018 charging module. I have a 2017 truck and the connector I removed from my truck was not the same as this new one I installed. And the connector that was on my truck would not plug into the 2018 wireless module   Although I did read somewhere that someone was able to force it on somehow? I didn’t try that hard as I had the new correct connector.

Okay - now I see the difference - I don't have the module as of yet (since it is on nationwide backorder) but was told that the 2018 module had a "4 pin plug" vice the "6 pin plug" like the 2016/2017 versions.  Now that I look closer I see the plug looks similar, but the configuration is slightly different.  Thanks for sending the photos - they were a big help.  Now we just need to get the module back in stock.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
