Does the 2017 still have the capability to play videos from the USB? I formatted it to fat32 and the file is MP4 720p but the radio isn't recognizing any video files. Any help please thanks

From my understanding no. I start right where from 2015 or 2016 on they don't do it anymore

I have a 2016 7" (IOB) MyLink and formatting is quite picky on it. I had to reformat the video a few times before it would play my MP4's. Try re converting it to a lower resolution. I doubt either the 7 or 8 inch have 720p resolution.

480 doesn't work either :( any confirmation 2017 8" mylink can or can't play videos?

I mean from the sound of it no. ;)

That said I don't have any insight into whether or not this is actually possible. I would try converting to multiple formats and trying that. Assuming it doesn't play then I guess not. Honestly I didn't even know mine played videos until I was waiting for the lady to come out of the mall and stuck a USB stick into the truck to listen to music. Little movies icon caught my eye so I tried it and blam, magpul art of the dynamic carbine. who knew?

so why is there a "videos" button available?

Couldn't tell you but something with the programming in the 2017 mylink will not let video be played. I have tried and have done some research on this topic to no avail. Only think we could hope for is an update. I hope GM spends more time on fixing my 65k denali vibrator instead of video playback.

My '15 plays videos, I'll have to double check the format but they play. And only while in park, which is safest!

Edited for correctness. The last thing we need on top of people on cell phones being distracted is some numb nut running around watching videos while driving... That is the way it should be.

I tried this on my 2015 and was having no luck. Ended up getting pissed off and gave up  Not a feature I found a ton of value in anyways, just would have been cool to try out.

Hey guys. I have a 2017 Silverado and I WAS able to play video on the screen the way it was described in the video. Truck had to be in park tho. Once I shifted into drive video went away but audio kept playing. I was a mp4 video that I had downloaded in iTunes.

maybe the parking brake needs to be applied?

in my wife's QX56 the front display will play video only if it is in park, and the parking brake is on. the rear displays are on no matter what.

just a thought.

Has anyone else figure this out. I have a 2017 GMC Sierra SLT and I cant get any videos to work. I have tried:

Formating the USB drive to NTFS and FAT32 with no luck.

I tried MP4 3Gp MKV on 480 and 720 resolution and still cant get it to read it.
My cousin's truck is a 2016 GMC Denali and it works on his.

Is there anyone else with a 2017 GMC truck that is able to read the video files?
