Tail Light Help

Hey Folks,

I need a little help.  Not a long time truck owner but my kid cracked one of my tail lights and I'm a little confused about what I'm reading with regard to a replacement.  Specifically, I'm seeing stuff about not fitting with factory LED assemblies and such.  Long story short, If I just want a straight replacement, what am I looking for?  If I want LED, is that an issue and/or what does that entail?

Thanks All

You can put LTZ led taillights on.  You would need to add resistors or buy an adaptor harness.  I installed the LTZ taillights on my 2017 LT, I used a harness from gen5diy. It made the install plug and play.  You could also go with aftermarket led taillights assemblies which have the resistors built in. I would check out ebay for your options.

A straight replacement would be the easiest route to take but you have other options. Like 2017_whitez71 said you can get LTZ taillights would require more work but not impossible.

What would constitute a straight replacement?  I can only find LED assemblies.
A straight replacement would be a oem taillight. You could probably find a set on your local Craigslist.

OEM is $100 to replace.  You can find on CL for that price too.
