Well, Well, Well: XXXXX Can’t Lower Egg Prices After All

Egg prices have hit an all-time high on the third day of the new presidency.

Donald Trump poses with groceries during a campaign speech at his Bedminster, New Jersey, club about rising food costs

Haven’t you heard? The new president on day one ordered new chickens after a large kill was ordered by the last administration. Causing a rise of egg prices. They tested positive for bird flu. Some speculate it was to clear the way for chickens from China. Fulfilling a promise from long ago as brokered by his son, Hunter. Trump cancel the order. Instead Elon Musk came up with electric chicken hybrids that lay multiple eggs a day. In about a week we’ll have so many eggs they’ll be 1$ a dozen. Causing the recently purchased Chinese egg farms in the USA to go broke. Next up cows that don’t fart. Lowering harmful gases. Next new Hybrid trees that don’t need the gasses that the cows don’t emit anymore. And so it goes.

People ask me all the time, "Most people who are good looking don't have any money, but you somehow have money and looks. How is that possible?"

Well, fine, I'll tell you the story....

Years ago, my buddy Dave and I went on a skiing trip, and after driving for a few hours, we got caught in a terrible blizzard, so we pulled into a nearby farm house.

We asked the attractive lady who answered the door if we could spend the night.

"I realize it's terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all to myself, but I'm recently widowed." she explained. "And I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house."

"Don't worry." I said. "We'll be happy to sleep in the barn, and if the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light."

The lady agreed, and we found our way to the barn and settled in for the night.

Come morning, the weather had cleared, so we got on our way and enjoyed a great weekend of skiing.

But, about nine months later, I got an unexpected letter from an attorney.

It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but I finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow we had met on our skiing trip.

I dropped in on my friend, and asked, "Dave, do you remember that good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our skiing holiday about 9 months ago?"

"Yes, I do," said Dave.

"Did you happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?"

"Well, um, yes!" Dave said, a little embarrassed about being found out, "I have to admit that I did."

"And did you happen to give her my name instead of telling her your name?"

His face turned beet red and he said, "Yeah, look, I'm sorry, buddy. I'm afraid I did. Why do you ask?"

"Well, she just died, and left me everything.” 😉

The joke is on US. Canada and Mexico worked US. The fact you don’t know that is why he was re-elected.

I know why. Enjoy LA LA land. I’ve spoken my last time to you.

    • There was talk over the last couple of years that the contract to build these trucks between GM and International would not be renewed.  International moved production of all their other trucks besides the companion CV model out of the Springfield plant some time ago when they opened their San Antonio plant.  That left Springfield only building the Silverado Medium Duty, International CV Series, and some Express/Savanna long wheelbase cutaways.  International also put the plant up for sale some time ago.  This all answered my earlier question as to why GM and International did nothing with these trucks since they were introduced, as they had basically become a market 'placeholder' with a finite life.    The Silverado Medium Duty/International CV trucks were interesting combination of a GM powertrain, electrical system, and K2XX Silverado cab with an International chassis that was supposedly designed for a step-van type vehicle they never produced.  They were manufactured in International's Springfield plant along with the IH MV series initially.  When first introduced, there was much talk that the Silverado Medium Duty/CV would eventually get a gasoline engine option along with other upgrades and GM and IH would work on a class 6/7 joint venture truck.  This was before VW bought Navistar out, after that happened no more was said.  Draw your own conclusions...   About the time talk started that the GM/IH joint venture was not going to be renewed, rumors started that GM would develop a new line of medium duty trucks themselves.  The story is the new trucks will be part of the next generation HD's due in 2028, and will still feature a 'straight rail' chassis design that the current medium duty has.  GM views this as a desirable feature that differentiates their truck from the competition.  A gasoline engine option is also expected.  As the current Silverado Medium Duty remains in production until September 2026 and there is still a lot of inventory available do not expect any official word for some time.   I believe GM remains committed to their successful partnership with Isuzu, and all the LCF models will still be available from Chevy Commercial dealers.  Isuzu is on the cusp of opening a new large plant in South Carolina and there is also speculation that this may result in new product for both Isuzu and Chevy Commercial dealers.
    • drive the truck back to the dealer and complain that the button works.

    • I have a 2026 2500 HD Ultimate. My phone app says there’s a software update available. It’s something about improved battery management and something to do with the running boards. I follow the instructions for the update but the “Check for Updates” option is greyed out in my settings menu. Has anyone else seen this? How did you resolve it? The help message just says “see your dealer” if the download doesn’t work. I’m just trying to save a trip.
    • Fuel mileage?  That's all how you use your right foot.  Exhaust will give you sound.   Stock exhaust 5.3 is 2.75" diameter piping.     If the truck is nice and worth putting some $$ into it, I'd go for a Corsa catback.  I had one on my 2019 old body 5.3 and it was just perfect.  Zero drone, just driving around and cruising on the highway you'd think it was stock, but when you opened it up it was like a Camaro with the factory dual mode.  Corsa bumps their catback to 3in diameter.
