I have had issues with my 2014 Work truck and it doesn't have steering wheel controls.   I never listen to radio, so it gets no use.  The screen is on and I see that it on a station with time and temp in corner, no sound as I press the volume button.   That is the way I want it, no radio just clock and temp.  Couple days ago, the radio comes on and starts playing all by itself and the clock loses it's time and seems to go to factory settings.  The screen displays the setting menu.  Like if I turn heater fan up a click, I hear a beep from radio.  That is a setting I always have turned off.   This has happened maybe 5 or 6 times so not a big deal.  Sometimes I have started the truck and radio makes a strange screeching noise, but then is okay, no radio on and just time and temp display.

I thought something might be lose and took radio out and reset all plugs in back which appeared fine, but it still acts up.  As I said this is a WT so it had the cheapest radio they got, I don't even have power mirrors or windows.  The radio does have ability to put SD card in center console and play music from there if I wanted, but hard wired not bluetooth.

So one of the points I am trying to make, the radio without all the fancy touch screen and features is having problems  also.  Surely GM knows this and just don't care?

I changed my digitizer today. It wasn’t hard to do. The most frustrating part is removing the digitizer from the metal frame due to the adhesive that is used. It’s glued to the frame pretty well. It took some time to heat the adhesive up, remove the digitizer from the frame and then remove as much old adhesive as I could. It would be great if someone made a digitizer already glued to a frame and sell it that way because it would save so much time swapping it out. The metal frame pops right off of the radio.

I have had this same issue with my 2016 Silverado.  A few years back, our MKZ Lincoln when my wife was driving, I had the Armour All cleaner / protectant wipes.  I was cleaning the touch screen and the radio went crazy, like pressing full loud all the time, even after drying it stayed and would not clear.  I had to take fuse out of radio for rest of trip.  Cleaned screen with water and took care of it.

Fast forward, my Silverado started doing same thing.  It had done it for past six months almost every time we drove it. Then we remembered about the MKZ and took a fiber cloth with water only and cleaned it thoroughly for 3 or 4 times edges and everything.  Dried well after. The Silverado has not messed up since and has been 2 or 3 months now.  I am thinking the Armour all has something that is causing the touch screen to think it is being continuously touched and locks or changes channels.  Not saying this will work for everyone but seemed to worked so far.  Fingers crossed..... And a cheap fix if it works, instead of new screen.

having issues on my 2015 now it is having a "Ghost" touch in the right upper portion of the screen.  So far I have recalibrated screen, reset the system to factory defaults and cleaned the touchscreen but it is still occurring.  I can deal with most of it but the part that is driving me nuts is that when I am using the phone it keeps placing the call on hold and the only way to resume the call is to do it from my phone's screen.

Hey man please check your messages. I think you have my old truck and id love to buy it back one day. It has lots of sentimental value. Thanks!

Mine 2018 colorado changes through screen stations (fm, am, sirus). Dash screen changes as well but only seems to happen when outside temperature drops abit. I wipe the screen and seems to fix it for 5 minutes or so.  I'm starting to think it's the antenna exterior. Any thoughts? Solutions?

Start with the simple things, give the screen a really thorough cleaning, then see if that helps. The oils from your fingers and dirt build up on the screen cause "ghost" touches.

Good idea. I will give it a good clean but the other issue is, is the dash screen changes as well. Seems like this is a big issue with chevy

Mine did the same thing, both screens, cleaned the radio (touch screen) and it went away. The touch screen will control both.

Putting this year in case anyone else has similar issues to me.  Last year I was having the same issues with my 2016 silverado radio and the random station changes, frozen screen, and eventually blank screen.  I got a new HMI from Whiteautomotive and it fixed my issues.
