Cleaning leather interior

Recommended Posts

I have just purchased a 2018 Silverado High Country and not sure what to use to keep my leather seats in new condition.    Should I be using something to clean them with and how often?   Anyway advice is appreciated.   Thanks

Chemical Guys makes a great leather cleaner and conditioner kit, use it on my black leather interior on my 1995 mustang cobra and it always comes out looking like new.  I use the cleaner with a soft horse hair brush to scrub the seats down every couple months, then hit them with the conditioner.

I have used Lexol for years on seats, coats, shoes, purses etc.

Cost effective at Walmart and works IMO.

Just started using chemical guys leather conditioner. No residue or shine. Smell is strong but I don't mind. Two dogs stink up truck fast. That said, can anyone answer whether or not the silverado leather is actually leather. Seems like vinyl to me.

Have a buddy that says he buys leather seats because they dry faster after using the pressure washer to clean the interior.

i believe the leather, at least in my SLT All terrain, is the seating surface for the front seats.

I use Leatherique products for various cars, always a great result.

I use a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dishwashing detergent.  The leather in our trucks isn't really leather.  I"ll finish with Chemical Guys conditioner.

Need to figure out a way to clean the perforated parts though.  Anyone have any suggestions?

The leather in most modern vehicles is leather but goes through a process to make it look uniform.  In essence, the leather is “clear coated” and therefore traditional leather products that soak into it just sit on top and attract more dirt.  Keeping the leather clean is more beneficial than any top coating.  The Leather Masters products I mentioned are designed for these types of leather.  My experience with Lexol is that it works better on traditional leathers.
